I have found the tracking information has gotten quite untrustworthy. Things showing as dispatched and at collection centres for weeks, then suddenly showing as dispatched from the seller, things going backwards/forwards and in circles etc. Things that have been stuck for months showing as being in China one day, then getting physically delivered the next.

Resigned to small tat items either getting here or not eventually.  Have a more expensive $50 item from March that is marked as Order Completed on 13th May in AliExpress, but waiting in Guangzhou departures according to NZ Post tracking..

Another cheaper item marked as successful delivery also on 13th May arrived a couple days ago.

If it's not with you and marked as complete on AliExpress open a dispute now. Many things have been returned to senders because of this and if they don't re send it and it's complete on aliex you will get nothing if you leave it too long after the auto completion.

my buyer protection is ending on a bunch of my orders

when opening a dispute, it says the item has arrived into the country and there isn't a button to lodge the dispute. Tracking doesn't show it has arrived into nz

What should i do?

Batman:

arrived after 2.5 months. and turned out to be fake.

Surely you don't expect anything from AliExpress to be genuine? There's a whole industry in China around copying legit products and relabeling fakes. And in buying up stuff that failed a legit company's QC, possibly repairing it, and reselling it.

AliExpress is the Wild West. Caveat Emptor.

If you want the quality assurance that is associated with a legit company's name, you're going to have to buy stuff from them through their approved outlets, and pay the premium for this.

One package arrived today, 8 days from collection to delivery via AliExpress Standard Shipping. Five days in NZ if the tracking is to be believed.

I have another package in transit to local depot that shipped a day later. I'm not expecting that until Monday as tomorrow the status will likely indicate "processed".

Only took 4 months (I even ordered early to get it here before my GF's birthday!) but finally my oldest outstanding package arrived!  Looks like it had been sat on by an elephant but since there are no breakables Im happy.  Only one more order to go and its been "accepted by last mile carrier" for a month.  I dont expect it to turn up.  Yet I got some Xiaomi Airdot-S's and they arrived in just over a week!  Fantastic earbuds for the price in case anyones interested.

I am in the same boat, tried int he app and on the website from a desktop. Item hasn't arrived, purchase protection to end soon. I try to open a dispute, when I chose no it hasn't arrived I get a screen telling me it is shown as arrived in destination country and to please allow a few more days due to Covid related delays. I can't progress the dispute any further. I don't even get the option to allow a longer delivery time like it has had in the past.

Accidentally marked something as received trying to dispute it.... oh well.

Gave up and bought from an Australian supplier instead.

You have to wait until after the delivery date in the app before lodging a dispute. The sellers have started adding crazy delivery times. It might just be time to "buy local".

Sadly it looks like you have a limited time between 'confirming' something by accident and then lodging a dispute (15 days). Lesson learned!

Hah, something I ordered on the 15th of March turned up yesterday so, 15/03 > 23/06.  I had actually given up on it (and it was ok with that being it was $5 worth!).

After many purchases over time I have stopped buying from AliExpress. Two things tipped me over the edge: The first was dozens of LED light bulbs with a failure rate of at least 50% (so far). Some are DOA, some stop working in various ways after a few days or weeks. They are cheap, useless rubbish with zero quality control. I don't understand why anyone even bothers making something with such crap components.

The second thing is the terrible, frustrating, stupid, limited automated feedback systems with no way to contact a human in charge, and useless emoji responses when you do. Who needs this agro just to save a few bucks?

I don't think it's fair to blame the platform for the actions of sellers. The same applies to delays caused by various shipping methods.

I do agree to a certain extent with your second point. It is however possible to contact a real human via the online chat, but they aren't terribly helpful most of the time. Disputes are quite frustrating, and in theory a human does read those and make decisions. Unfortunately, the requirements can be onerous at times and sellers unscrupulous.

I actually had one dispute which was resolved in favour of the seller, and again on subsequent appeal. I was only offered a partial refund. I contacted AliExpress via the online chat and told them I wasn't happy. The consequence of this was that a real person did look in to it, and a compensation payment was made for the balance. That greatly improved my opinion of the service.

The one I avoid is eBay/Paypal for their dodgy undisclosed currency conversions.
