Only issue with 1 day is they are returns from other markets, so you don't get the actual power brick with the Ethernet port on it. Ive found that once stuck behind a metal TV the wifi is bad enough on them that its really needed to have the Ethernet in order to not have them take forever to start playing things and have glitches all the time on 4k stuff and then fall back to a lousy stream.

I ordered one a few months ago, page said it didn’t come with one but they had included a new unopened one in the box

They get their stock from all over the place, so it will vary. Good to see that they are supplying that cable now, they didnt for quite some time with them and it was just a stock USB cable and cheap generic outlet blocking wall adapter.

Just to clarify a couple of things:  I haven't paid for or received any goods, the pic's were lifted from the auction, with my annotations.

Also I said unopened but what I meant was unused.

The flags went up right after confirming the purchase when I looked again at the top photo with a 4K logo then realized the "ChromeCast Ultra" name was missing . (Tbh I looked up ChromeCast generations to make certain Google hadn't just released a new version, one I hadn't heard about :D).

As the trader has a spotless feedback record I've no reason to suspect malice. I'm assuming good faith here.

In the description it says the Fake Cast device was purchased by trader in January 2020, a short time later he acquired a Smart TV leaving the dongle redundant.

I've already emailed him with my findings...

What I'd like to know is who sold this garbage to him, if it turns out to be another trader I'll be contacting TM today.

The unanswered questions about where it was bought would be a warning.

That question does not require an answer. I'm not sure I like your tone.

Where I bought it from is already quite clear to most people. ;)

Bung: One thing that might make it easier is whether the AC adapter is obviously not NZ approved. Fake or not TM do have specific rules about power supplies being NZ approved type not needing adapters.
Good spotting!  Another red flag -  one I missed earlier.  And a 1080p logo on side of box lol.

K8Toledo:Don't understand the context of this comment, can you be more specific please?

You were wanting to know where the seller bought it. So did 2 other people asking the same question, but the seller didn't answer them.

You said that you would like to know where the seller got it from, and if it was from TM, you would report it to them. If where it came from doesn't require an answer, then why did you say you wanted to know?

Update:  the trader emailed me back - he originally purchased the fake cast online from a site called ECOMERZPRO.

Apparently they sell this junk through Facebook as well.

Maybe it perfroms better than a real chromecast?  I got a legit chromecast 2nd gen and the POS can't handle a bitrate over 15Mbit.

They dont, mine has constant frame drops and even the frame cadence is wrong playing 30 fps stuff which really screws the tv up. 60fps and it has massive frame drop too.
