Harry is behind his brother and any of his brother's children and any of their (eventual) children. I don't think he is likely to get promoted unless there is a mad lunch massacre as happened in Nepal.

"What would have happend if Prince Charles died?"

A huge sigh of relief throughout the Empire.

Empire? Is that a Star Wars reference?

A reference to the fact that anyone who cares about this is living at least one century ago.

Harry & Meg are in the same position as Princess Margaret was after Charles was born... pretty much irrelevant to anything, but with some inherited celebrity and a lavish lifestyle.

Is Harry still in the line of succession? I thought he resigned from all that.

I am not sure you can resign from that. You would have to accede to the throne then abdicate I think.

My preference is to just become a republic and then we wouldn't have to waste any time thinking about this nonsense. 😀

Yes, I for one think that President Richie McCaw or perhaps President Winston Peters would add so much to public life here....😇

If Charlie died? There'd be one less royal bludger on the British tax payers.

We don't have to have a president. Could continue with an appointed Governor General.

I think that's wrong. The Governor-General sits in for the Crown. We would have to change the title.

We get to write the rules, and can call our head of state what we want and how they are selected.

Yup, US States elect Governors. Dunno how a GG differs from a regular Governor, but regardless we can make the rules.

Can someone fix the spelling/grammar in the title of this thread please? It’s doing the OCD part of my brain in.

I would suggest that we would have a unitary Republic rather than a federal republic, nothing like the USA.

Especially since the USA have just replaced a preoccupation with the lives of the royal family with the Kardashians. You don't always have much control over the way that nature fills a vacuum.
