DHL eCommerce sometimes hands over parcels to USPS who I assume hands over to NZ Post. This is what is happening for a parcel on its way to me at the moment. Currently with USPS in LAX.

They do ? Anything to save money I suppose.

For the parcel I'm obsessing with at the moment, DHL says they handed it over to NZ Post 7am yesterday, but today NZ Post say they haven't received it yet. Be patient, patience is virtue, relax, remember things aren't exactly normal...

I'd assume it's all international shipping.

I placed an order on 7 July which is sent from Amsterdam. It's a regular order for us and we usually receive the items in 7 days.

This time it was collected on the 17th, left AMS on the 20th and wasn't updated on either the AMS or NZ track and trace sites until it was listed as International arrival in Auckland on the 9th August and delivered to Kapiti the next day.

I've switched to using DHL or Fedex for most packages, they're the only two reliable carriers able to deliver atm.

I guess the difference is they have their own freight planes to use without having to rely on passenger flights carrying freight

Even then, I have a DHL package which shows that it was picked up on Monday from China... and the tracking hasn't changed since. It's still supposed to arrive next Thursday, so we'll see what happens.

Edit: Despite the tracking not showing it leaving China, it arrived in Auckland this morning (14th) :)

I used DHL for my last package only to have them hand the package over to USPS... :( They took weeks/months for my last package so hopefully they're a bit quicker this time!

Another one.

Should I worry about this. Said order is from Amazon via UPS (apparently). Customs problem in Auckland on the 13th but only in Australia the day after. I guess its some kind of pre-clearance. The order is for about NZ$140 and the total included gst.

With things as they are at the moment I wouldn't worry too much. Just give it a few more days.

I shall try to do so. Its been fairly rapid so far.

Also it just occurred to check on the proper UPS tracking thing and that might be a bit more optimistic (also 6.42PM) -

UPS with my parcel from Florida has had a message for the past week:

Your package has been delayed due to a Government regulatory agency hold. / Brokerage released the package. It will be processed through a clearing agency before final release to UPS.

I rang them up this morning to find out if there was something to be paid (GST) holding it up.  The person promised me they'd investigate and get back to me within an hour.  Two hours later I had to go out, checked the mailbox, and the package was there.  The website still says it's held up.  I'll check later - maybe the courier needs to return to the depot to update deliveries made.

The shipper offered assorted options / prices - UPS seemed to be the best - I can't really complain that the "2-7 working days" delivery wasn't met, this is the third time in so many weeks I've had things shipped in, and the same problem - it takes longer to clear in NZ than it did to get bumped half-way around the planet, scanned in and out of several depots in the US, then held up at this end.

Hmm. Maybe a combination of quickly saying there's a problem and not so quickly saying fixed, plus a bit level 3.

No idea - I wish they'd tell you.

Package was a pair of tweeters - they possibly looked like land mines on an x-ray machine.

Package from the US just arrived.

Aug 6 - Handed over to DHL by merchant.

Aug 9 - Handed over to USPS at LAX.

Aug 19 - Received by NZ Post at AKL.

Aug 20 - Delivered by NZ Post.

Pretty happy as it's a much quicker turnaround than what I was expecting! However this shipment shows there is really no point choosing DHL over USPS. They will and do hand over to USPS/NZ Post... Not a bad thing in this case though as NZ Post is awesome at overnight shipping after arrival at AKL. Might as well just choose the lowest cost shipping as it'll still arrive one way or another.

Was it DHL Express or Ecommerce? DHL Express should've had a 3-4 day deadline for packages to New Zealand from the US.
