I am having problems with this since last night! This is with Amazon USA
I do have a new phone, but even when putting the SIM back in the old phone it doesn't work.

It worked on my old phone since April 24 (last month) but suddenly it does not work any more.

I changed my password via email etc, but it still wants the code by TXT

I also tried phoning Amazon. I got through only to have a recorded message play saying that during the virus etc, they cannot accept phone calls at this time.

who is your phone provider?

All I can suggest is logging in using someone else's account (or create a new dummy account) so you can use live chat.
Then ask them to change the mobile number on your account to another (with another provider) - you need to follow this route as live chat wont touch 2fa for you.
Once you regain access to your account log in and turn off 2fa or change to an authenticator app.

Thanks. I'm with Spark, just on prepay.
Will have to try that. I have an account on Amazon UK, and it wants the same TXT code...

OK, well I created a new account and talked to a lady on Live Chat.
She got a person to phone me on my cell and asked me all sorts of questions - like what my last 3 orders on Amazon were, the serial of my Echo, etc.
Eventually she was able to send an OTP code my email which I used to get in.

I erased the cellphone number off my Amazon account, so hopefully any code requests will go through to my email now.

I did download Authy and I asked her if I should use that, but she didn't think it was a good idea.

She tried multiple times to TXT me and none of them came through.

It must be something to do with Spark. I'm not sure if this means I can receive no overseas TXTs or if it's only an Amazon thing.

I was on the phone to her for a good half an hour or more.

now that you're in - just erasing your phone isn't enough.
You need to go into You're Account > Login & Security > Two Step Verification Settings
If, like me, it shows that it isn't set up - ignore that because you know it was - because it was asking for text verification to log in.

I don't see an issue with using an authenticator app. It works offline so there isn't really much issue with it failing to work. (and it is even recommended by Amazon in their 2 step verification)
So - either go through and set it up with an authenticator app or something else and then if you really don't want to use it - disable it again.
Leaving it as it is could result in a phantom prompt to enter the otp they texted you even though you have removed the phone number.

Yeh, well, when I went to the Two Step Verification thing, it wasn't set up to begin with. At least it looked like that.
The Amazon lady said that the OTP request at login wasn't necessarily part of the two step authentication process. It's just something that happens after a while when you haven't logged in. I'm thinking that without my phone number it will have to do it by email now.

I am also affected by the same issue. Prior, I had email 2FA code setup with Amazon USA and never had an issue. I switched it to SMS a while back and now not able to receive SMS code from Amazon USA or their UK portal.

I'd encourage you to seek support from Spark / Skinny.
The more they hear about this issue the better the chance it might get looked at.

But to get access again, I'd encourage you to do what billgates suggested to me.
Create another Amazon account, therefore you're able to utilize the Live Chat feature and talk to someone online as their phone line only has an answerphone message at the moment.
The online chat lady got the help people to actually phone me. It took me a while on the phone but it finally got sorted.

She had to ask me many questions to prove who I was, like what my last three orders from Amazon were (took me ages to figure it out? I had to go through all my order emails, but they don't actually tell you what you've ordered!)

In the end, I got it done, and actually removed my phone number from the account details.
For my 2FA I chose Authy - there is an option for phone apps like that.

I managed to get it working by waiting 24-hours or so then click "I didn't receive it" and chose the phone call. Then was in.

I also came across this little gem of Amazons today.

Dumb question, but how did you wait 24 hours ? did you just try again the next day, do you have to leave that browser tab open for 24 hours, when do you get a 'I didn't receive it' option to appear...

That was my first point of call. Twitter! Unfortunately Spark twitter could not help me because i am behind a corporate account. Rang the corporate number and no one picked up the phone. Might have to login via my wife's amazon account and use the live chat feature from that.

2FA SMS code is working now for me :)

I just tried to login into my Amazon account and the SMS came through to my Spark mobile connection. I am turning off the SMS 2FA and just going to use my MS authenticator app.

Do whatever you want to do man.
