ilovemusic:
Some vinyl records from USA via DHL eCommerce
8 days to get from ordering to receipt at export facility
9 days transit to Auckland
6 days processing :(
Couple of CD's from a vendor in Vancouver, Canada.
Vancouver > Memphis > Honolulu > Auckland
5 days via fedex.
Not strictly Courier Post, but...
quickymart:
"NZ Post general manager of international solutions Murray Silcock apologised for the 260 parcels left behind, and said they had since been sent overseas."
No doubt the tip of the iceberg. I sent a package to Australia in 25 November and it wasn't even processed by NZ Post until 9 December.

A few electronic parts from Switzerland. Two weeks now and still waiting...
It was in Honolulu for a week before going to Australia (instead of taking the HNL - AKL FedEx freighter). Now it's in Auckland with NZ Couriers but they don't operate from the 1st to the 4th so 3 weeks for a FedEx Priority package. Should've used snail mail instead.
I'm stoked. Ordered a new HDD from Ascent a few days ago, got an email to say it won't be shipped until 31st - was thinking "great, see it sometime in the new year".
Guess what arrived this morning on the first courier....... :D

No, that just means that a label for the last mile carrier has been printed and entered into the system. If the address is bad, that would not be accepted.
Now they go into a sack in some warehouse in China, and sit there till there is space for it to come over to NZ and the whole sack is passed off to NZ post to actually deliver it. You will find that it has a return address for one of the consolidation companies out near the airport when it arrives.
@richms so you recon my item is still in China?

Yeah, not even left yet. Once the sacks arrive in NZ, its usually 1-2 days for me to get things in the PO Box, and NZ post tracking shows that when things have got here move quickly. All those tracing states are the website you use interpriting information from other providers, there isnt really much standardization of the tracking states etc so lots of things get misinterpreted going thru multiple tracking providers etc.
Also, once your aliexpress standard shipping item is restickered and in the bag, they are reliant on updates for the bag, which are going to be in a pallet like crate thing, and sometimes things get seperated out and they go into another crate but the tracking for the crate shows its on its way, but the bag or parcel are not in it. No real tracking happens till that bag is opened up and processed in NZ, and suddenly you will see something else. That is why they call it untracked because it is basically useless for most of the journey.
wow i bought an item off ebay for $13 including shipping from israel
it was shipped on Jun 07, 2020
and today i was shocked to see that the item turned up almost 7 months latter
just checked and it also has express postage
Ordered an item from the South Island and it was picked up on 17 December. It arrived in Tauranga on the 21st and has yet to make the ~90 minute drive from there to Whakatane. On Christmas Eve I talked to them and they apologised (it had been sent before the Christmas cutoff) and said they'd get it out ASAP. A week later I contacted them again and they didn't even bother to call back. Yesterday morning the tracking finally changed for the first time since Christmas Eve, saying that it's with the courier for delivery... but the courier didn't turn up.

Several things I ordered from Ali on the 11/11 sale are only just arriving this week, all having the Auckland UCL Co.Ltd return address, 53 days in transit, a bit higher than 2019's 11/11 sale day, where most were delivered in 14 and just 2 slow parcels arriving in 23-33 days. So I think it's safe to say it's a tad slower then 2019.
You can see the full journey of my parcel here, as richms was saying a few posts up, "Arrived At Destination Country" doesn't mean much unless it's NZPost saying it, I quite like parcelsapp tracking as they say which service/company each status update is from, e.g. you can see the "Arrived At Destination Country" message is from "UBI SMART PARCEL", then you can see a few hours later a status update from NZPost saying "tracking label has been created but your item isn't with us yet".

I'd say, if you want stuff quick from China, pay the extra $$ for shipping e.g. I had a parcel bought from Ali on 11/11 shipped with DHL arrive about a week later, but probably defeats the purpose of buying from Ali... the low price.

Even going for the next grade of shipping up from Cainao seems to make things a lot more reliable. For small items, this is often a price difference of under a dollar.
Delivery may still take an age, but in my experience packages are unlikely to spend quite as long sitting in some anonymous distribution centre in China.

Just a warning about redirecting a DHL Express parcel to a collection point. They tell you that they will notify you once the parcel has arrived at the collection point--in fact they do not do that at all. Waited a week for the notification and emailed DHL to inquire as to where it was. Got a reply admitting that it the parcel has been at the collection point the whole time. Apparently they biff the parcels off to Courier Post who drops them off at the collection points. For some reason DHL Express tracking doesn't tell you when they hand over parcels to another courier company--whereas DHL eCommerce will do this so it's easy to continue tracking using the new tracking code. Arrived at collection point (my local Countdown) and the lady took a good 10 minutes figuring out how to use the NZ Post app (including rebooting their cheapo Android phone which they use for the app) to scan out my parcel.
Next time I will probably just redirect to another address instead of a collection point.
