Same here, CourierPost have been great recently. I just had a parcel from Aussie arrive in Auckland (aus post, tracked) yesterday, and it's been delivered here in Hawkes Bay this morning. 10/10 (total transit time was 2 weeks)

Edit:

Just got this email from CP, so delays may be in our near future.

What are delivery times like at the moment with internationally sent items arriving in NZ? I'm waiting on something from the UK, last update on September 21 was the item was leaving the UK. Yet the tracking number provided doesn't show any results on NZ Post's website.

Is that normal, or does it get a new tracking number once it arrives in NZ? Their website doesn't say anything and the phone queue waits are far too long.

I have a parcel coming from China, going on 65 days, the majority of 50% of which was waiting on airline space.

I had another from China a weeks ago just arrive, transit time 83 days, most of which was waiting for a flight to NZ.

Tracking codes doesn't usually change if it's a XX0000000XX tracking code. I'd say check some other tracking sites which, as they oftern check several sites as your parcel likely goes through at least 2 postal systems.

Not sure how mail relates to parcels but neighbor's envelope blew into our driveway on weekend. It came from UK and from the date printed it had taken 21 days to arrive.

Thanks, I'll probably go with that as a guideline. So most likely nothing for at least another week or two yet.

Their latest TV ads make me cringe given how atrocious their actual service is.  (Like so many big corporates I guess.  All about brand and marketing - sod spending time, energy and money on service delivery.)

After I was born, I didn't talk to my parents for two years.

Wait, NZ Post are running ads at the moment? WHY... they (and most other couriers) are absolutely overloaded at the moment. Shouldn't they wait for levels to become more normal before trying to gain more customers.

They have to tell everyone what a wonderful job they're doing, otherwise all the people who have experienced their service would be under the mistaken impression that they were doing an awful job.

Maybe I should run my own ad showing NZ Post's service where they returned a parcel I'd sent to Greece because they claim there were two destinations/labels/postages on it, one for Greece, another for Japan. I sure didn't pay for a second lot of postage to Japan or write some Japanese address on the same parcel, and it's sitting in a closed post office until we go to level 2 so I can't even see how they can have buggered it up that badly.

Quoting Blackadder, they had better make the explanation they're about to give phenomenally good.

Yeah, you get regular progress updates across China, then it gets to some international carrier location and there's dead silence for up to a month, then suddenly it appears in NZ.

Note that for tracking purposes if the NZ tracking reports "Hand over to international carrier" that doesn't mean it's on its way to NZ, merely that custody has been passed somewhere. The Chinese-side tracking is more useful in terms of keeping you informed of the situation.

Who are overloaded? I've had several domestic parcels in recent times across a variety of postal/courier carriers and most (if not all!) have arrived <24 hours.

I'd bet the vast majority of delayed parcels are due to overseas carriers having trouble getting their parcels on a plane to NZ. Hardly the fault of domestic carriers such as NZ Post et al who can only take responsibility once the parcels are handed over to them off the plane. And in these cases I also find they are pretty good at getting the last mile delivery done fairly quickly.

NZ Post have been slashing services since long before COVID was an issue. International packages were already being put in a 5 day delivery cycle despite their own Website indicating a three day target. I had several packages miss their adjusted targets, sometimes by a week or more, when things were running normally. Currently, courier deliveries here (South Auckland) are being delayed 1-2 days.

Last few weeks got so many emails from NZPost about too many parcels to delivery, even possibly doing partial pickups due to capacity concerns. Especially went Auckland went into lvl3. Also got similar Aramex.

But it does seem mostly related to Auckland, with 3-8day delays. But parcels going to WLG/CHC seems to be mostly overnight still.

From everything I've been sending out, on a normal week maybe 90-95% would be delivered next day NZ wide, but recently it's more like 60% overnight delivered (NZ wide), then the remaining parcels being delivered over the next few days, and the odd one taking over a week.

Just my observations, maybe it's just me, and it's not that bad overall.

Still waiting on mine. I don't know companies bother with a tracking service if the item just drops off the radar the second it leaves the originating country.

I know Fedex (used to) let you track it all the way, but NZ Post don't seem to have a similar setup. Have they ever done though?

The problem is everything goes via Highbrook/East Tamaki sort centre. Its treated the same as if the parcel is sent from Bluff to Kohimarama.

On the other hand I ordered coffee during L4 and that was delivered the same day by NZ couriers. In fact they delivered it 2.5 hours after pickup, before I got the notification it had shipped. The senders location is only a 5 min drive away, but still amazing to experience. Not sure if thats normal or someone noticed it was down the road and handed it to the right courier for my area.
