Since it was Russian and the date the tracking stopped coincided with the special military operation I thought it was a goner...
I have just had an item sent to me from JB Hifi in Tauranga to my home in Wellington.
It was dispatched yesterday and arrived today despite NZ Post still indicating delays of up to four days in Wellington!
Meanwhile at PBT... I'm not quite sure how a delivery to Whangarei ends up in Tauranga. Knowing PBT, it'll then probably spend time in a shed in Gore for 3 weeks.

Lol, nothing like seeing the sights first.
Always puzzled me when PB started using PBT. As far as I know, they used to be mostly just NZPost, but added PBT when the big pickup delays happened.
Having said that, I've only had 1 delivery via PBT from PB so far, and it was overnight.
But have had mixed speed from them in the past.
There tracking page is just so clunky, and not the easily to use or follow.
Not sure which courier would have been a better choice in NZ though. They all seem pretty average, baring NZPost/CourierPost, and maaaybe PostHaste, on a good day.
I mean, DHL has always been fast, but they're in a different price/service level.

Apparently now that CourierPost is over and done with, DHL will be having a go at their own normal courier products to compete with nz post. Not sure I 100% trust the source on that but they are in the logistics game so may have some knowledge.
PBTech shipped an item Friday 8th and was recieved by OnSend at 10am that day. They have helpfully informed me my item is in transit whenever I have asked for an ETA so I can plan to work from home (explaining my front door is unsecure for a large, expensive, obvious box to be left unattended). Got marked for delivery this morning, still not here. Phone line has one of those "please email us so we can ignore you" kinds of automated information assistant, phone left unanswered well before business hours close, and voicemail for the delivery and sales teams are full.
Now I get to go through the long weekend with my broken gaming chair which has been hurting my back (lumbar is fixed at wrong height for me). Finally found a courier company that makes Castle Parcels look amazing (they may fold stuff and jam it into the mailbox, but at least they'll get it to you swiftly)

Not CourierPost, but NZ Post. Today at 3.10 pm I received an email to say that an item had been delivered. I searched the property, and found nothing, so I put in a Lost Item form to them.
Then, at 4.20 pm, the item was delivered.
I'm thinking that simply driving past an address ticks off a delivery by geolocation, whether the item is delivered or not? If so, that will surely be a rod for their own backs.

Even if the CourierPost drivers are above average, I'd still prefer to not have them baring anything, at least not in our street.

CourierPost is the old name for the NZ Post Courier Service, same company.
In your case I probably a simple case of the courier accidentally scanning the wrong parcel at 3.10pm and noticing before he left it, then delivering it to you a bit later, or maybe put it in next-doors letterbox and came back to retrieve it and put it in yours.

I have had an apple item sitting in Auckland for 48 hours with DHL.
Came from Aussie and arrived in aucks the following day.
Never seen this with DHL they are normally spot on.
Is supposed to be coming to chch.

Seems to be something a bit strange going on with DHL in this part of the world at the moment. It seems that once something hits AU/NZ it slows to a crawl.
Tokyo to Hong Kong: 1 day
Hong Kong to Singapore: 1 day
Singapore to Sydney: 6 days
Sydney to Auckland: 1 day and counting
I'm just glad that it made it to Sydney eventually; was starting to wonder whether it had gone missing since as mentioned above, DHL is normally quick.
Edit: Arrived here in Whakatane today (19th).

Staff. If ya staff are not there because of isolation requirements....the sorting slows down.

How big was the item? possible scenarios was that the courier in question had too much work, off loaded it to a buddy at that time for final mile. OR if the item was small... it completed the final mile with the regular postie on the golf cart....
I've been seeing this all day:
Is it just me, or has NZ Post got its IT knickers completely in a twist?
