If you mean NZ Post and NZ Couriers, no, they're different companies. But if you mean NZ Post and CourierPost, then yes, they are 1 and the same.

Courierpost is gone now. Its all NZ post. Courier post was between NZ post and DHL which is why it had the DHL colours. That is why the pointless van and bag rebranding happened, that is why the website now redirects to NZ post for the same features.

I have been told by someone who used to drive for them that many drivers left at that time and are working out their periods elsewhere before they will be back driving a van for someone else.

I'm still pissed they spent who knows how much on the rebranding. I really liked the yellow and red vans and bags. They stood out well I thought.

Luckly (for now) our local driver still rocks the old branding :P

mattwnz: It was a private sender. They too have had trouble communicating with them. However I have found out that that originally they had detected it was being held as dangerous goods because they said it was an aerosol can. I said that it wasn't and it was an iPhone. They continued to dispute this and that it definitely wasn't an iPhone. Today they have said it was being held because it was an iPhone and the battery in the iPhone was considered dangerous. This is a lie because didn't know it was an iPhone until I told them them and iPhones are couriered all the time. They now say it has been sent to me today so obviously they can courier it without any problems. No apology or anything from them for delaying delivery by nearly 2 weeks and this would have been longer if I hadn't chased them up. So definitely everyone should avoid using them as they seem to be run by muppets

Yeah, the consumer support is pretty average at NZ Post when a non company sends something and it doesn't go smoothly.

As a last resort I've found some social pressure sometimes can work (like tweeting them on Twitter, if you're on there). But can be very hit or miss.

But good to hear it may be in your hands soon.

I've also been waiting on something sent from Aussie, "departed" on the 21st, only just arrived in NZ today. What's weird is I had another 2 parcels from Amazon sail through across the border over the weekend and delivered today. I guess Amazon got a better deal with NZ Post then whatever service my other parcel is on.

Although they have said it is now being sent to , the track and trace still shows it hasn't moved from Highbrook since the 28th April. My main complaint with NZ post, is the total lack of communication and ignoring of emails. They obviously have some major problems.

It seems they make the rules up as they feel suits with batteries.

Once I was not able to send something that was a phone because I had opened it, even tho it was in the manufacturers packaging. Never had that problem before.

Simpler to not tell them if you're handing a parcel over at the counter, or just say its a sex toy or something that its not.

Exactly. Infact it says from their terms that any device with a lithium battery is prohibited. Yet they are still going to send it to me. Obviously such a clause is ridiculous as shops and people send many different products that contain batteries. And in this case it is sealed inside an apple device. But in my case it appears that because the box the sender used was reused, they incorrectly detected it as a big box of aerosol paints, when common sense should have seen that it almost weighed nothing and couldn't have been this. But my main issue is that they read zero communication and even the tracking is misleading because it doesn't say it has been held up as a dangerous goods.

It maybe an idea to have the subject of this thread changed from Courier Post to NZ Post, as Courier Post no longer exists as a brand, and avoid confusion with other similar courier names

Or, better, just "Courier delays" since it's been used to discuss all sorts of courier issues beyond NZ Post.

That's true, although there does look to be a very high proportion of problems with NZ Post (previous Courier Post)  in particular in recent times. Just didn't want NZ Couriers getting confused With Courier post which has occurred with a few people above, and they did operate under similar red and yellow colors   To be honest I haven't had any problems with any other couriers in recent times, even during the lockdowns.

I guess omicron has its impact on customs + nz post. As in the past 2 months deliveries from AliEx increased from 5-7 days to 20+ :(

it's quick to leave China (still around 5-7 days) but takes forever to pass customs and delivered

I have had many fast ones recently, but the slow ones have been super slow. Hitting extensions on the timeout type thing.

Also the consolidated parcels are massively delayed over there before leaving but that might be their lockdowns. I really try to space orders out to prevent consolidation but the still seem to do it.

LOL. Maybe that is when they expect you will eventually get it. I got my parcel today after several weeks. But ironically they delivered it without ringing the doorbell or getting a signature even though it was signature required. Instead it was signed contactless. The box could easily have been stolen off my front door step. They failed to apologise or explain the delay. Probably the worst service I have experienced recently from a NZ company. They will be rewarded with me not using them again where I can avoid them.

I think it depends a lot on what region you're in and even the specific courier on your run. My NZPost courier is actually awesome; always on time, friendly and follows instructions. Aramex... significantly less so. So much so that I will normally look for another purchasing option when I see Aramex pop up as the delivery service. PBTech changing to Aramex was a real blow!

My dream scenario would be that the customer gets to pick their courier service at checkout. The customer (a) far more likely to know the best service for their area; and (b) paying for it, so why does the retailer get to choose. Personally I would _gladly_ pay a bit extra for the courier service I know does a good job for me. But judging by this thread, the service that works for me won't work for everyone. So I'd love some granular competition and let the market dictate which couriers get the work based on price vs performance rather than a national exclusive contract for courier services dictated by the retailer.

covid mate, havent been doing signatures for ages.

they don't have time to update you every step of the way or apologise (they would apologise to the sender anyway as that's who they have the contract with). if they did this with every package like yours nothing would get done there.

at the end of the day they deliver 1000's of packages promptly every day without issues, and yours falls into the .0xx% of them, which i know sucks but it does happen from time to time.

PS every courier company has similar stories so it wont leave you with many companies to use to send things

For signature required parcels, if courier is not to collect signature due to covid they are not supposed to just dump and run, they are supposed to knock, wait to see if there is an answer, if so then the parcel should be placed on the ground and step back a couple meters for the recipient.  Only then can they mark it as contactless.  If nobody is there, then it should be carded and returned to depot.

If they all just dump-and-run then there is no difference between Signature Required and Not Required and the extra fees paid to them for Signature Required would be fraudulent.
