12,605 signatures collected. This petition closes 4 October - do you expect to collect lots of signatures over the next 30 days - any reason why it can't be forwarded now - as in the dates are set by a parliamentary rule, or something similar?

Signed. Our family may be in a similar situation if my Kiwi offspring comes home.

@freitasm my cousin is running the petition so it's up to her I suppose.

I don't know the ins and outs of submitting it, but I will get her to check.

She is thrilled with the support, and thanks everyone at Geekzone who has signed.

There are a couple of Facebook groups that have been set up for anyone who is affected by the current rulings coming out of Immigration.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/122713594/coronavirus-border-exception-rule-changes-will-reunite-some-families-split-by-covid19

The Government is signalling it is listening to families who have been split by the country’s strict border measures by announcing a raft of changes to allow many to be reunited.

Partners of New Zealanders from visa-waiver countries are set to be the biggest benefactors, with the Employers and Manufacturers Association saying the decision to extend resident visas would come as a “relief” for Kiwi businesses.

Australian citizens or citizens of visa waiver countries living outside New Zealand, but who are partners of New Zealand citizens and residents may be granted an exception to travel to New Zealand as part of changes coming into force from early October.

Thanks to everyone who has supported this cause. You have made a difference to the lives of many people.

https://www.immigration.govt.nz/about-us/media-centre/news-notifications/australian-and-visa-waiver-partners

Positive outcome for those with offshore partners from visa waiver counties like OP's family, And I feel for NZ as a whole, as less people will be traveling solely to collect offshore partners, both spending vast amounts of money, and increasing the risk of covid entering NZ on their return.

Will be tough news for those that already forked out big bucks to go collect their partner.

And bitterly disappointing for those not from a visa waiver country.

Take it they missed the ride this week?

We had a South African Air A340 arrive on Tuesday (chc) with 300. Left today with very few.
