Jr11: Just received an email from ceremonies team , they are printing out my certificate on 22/11, so that’s definitely not 2 months 😉

Congrats. That's a quick response from ceremonies. I got my approval email last week, haven't received any email from ceremonies department yet. just wondering if you are living in auckland?

Are you in Auckland? How long was it between the your first contact and approval email? just trying to get a sense of timelines. Cheers!

It’s all in previous replies. Allocation to approval is less than 10 days. From Dunedin

Yes I'm in Auckz.
I got my first email from dia on 20/10/21 asking for few details and to do my identity check. Received confirmation details email on 26/10/21 and approval on 9/11/21.
so yeah pretty much 2 weeks process after confirmation details I guess.

I want just to clear this point. Confirm details is final step before get approval letter, not first step, so application will be allocated maybe 2-4 weeks before the confirm detail email.

Here's my timeline-  it is quite different to the experiences of other who have recently posted here.

Applied online (Auckland) - 23/10/2020

First email from case officer to confirm details - 24/08/2021 (10 month and 1 day since the date of application)

Approval email - 16/11/2021 (2 month + 3 weeks since the first email / email to confirm details)

The approval email says the certificate will be posted within 2 months.

I have to admit, its been a very long and frustrating wait - no further information was requested during the process. Just confirmation of details and approval. I'm glad it's somewhat done now - except the wait for the certificate.

Wow almost 3 months between confirm details and approval , that's really rare , usually it is just 10-21 days. do you know any reason why took so long ? I feel they just forget to include your name in the approval list that sent to minister to sign it

They do say everyone's case is different and it sure seems that way.  We applied 5th January 2021, got first contact from case officer on 4th November asking for further info and updated identity checks, which we did straight away.  Then a couple of days later we were asked for Australian Police checks (as we lived in Australia for over 12 months whilst holding NZ residency).  Surely this should have asked for upfront.  We've applied for them last Thursday and to save time having them sent to an Australian address and a friend will scan them and send them through (they will accept a scan).  My husband's was processed within 24 hours and should have his by the end of this week.  Mine has not been processed yet due to my name being 'common' in Australia.  I'm hoping when we get these, that this is all they need.  They clearly seem to be working through a checklist and not asking for anything further until they receive what they've asked for.

I saw peoples experiences on this forum so I assumed mine would be pretty similar which appears to be 10-28 days from initial contact to approval. From the time the case officer was assigned (assuming 24 Aug as that as the first email I got from them) until approval I followed up twice - once via email in September and I called once in October. Both times I was told my application was still being processed. I was never asked for any further information or asked to explain anything, I met all the requirements, I've never changed my name and I've lived only in NZ for the past 9 years so didn't require clearance from any foreign agencies but it just took a lot longer - just my luck I guess lol :)

I'll admit it was frustrating seeing Nov and Dec 2020 applications getting approval while I was told mine was still being processed. I wasn't in a hurry to get it because (thanks to Covid) I have no vacations planned but its nice to just be done with it and I certainly don't think their timeframes or their extending of already unreasonably long timeframes is appropriate

That is just not right and the fact that you heard nothing from your first email to approval over that amount of time.  I would be putting in a complaint but wait until you get your certificate.

However, congratulations and so glad to hear you have finally been approved.

Congratulations! May I ask, was it the ceremonies team at the dia who emailed you or was it your local council?
