I just had a supplier in the US contact me to say that their shipment was returned by USPS due to the delivery ban.

I've got the ability to use APO addresses, so I have them delivered that way... but four items that originally shipped via UPS before getting handed over to USPS have hit the go slow. Three ended up in Germany (similar post code.. instead of 12213 for example, they've gone to 12123) and are back in the US. To compound matters, USP hands them over at snail mail/parcel select type, not first class or priority mail, so who knows if i will get my items!

20 American states take court action against Trump appointee and current U.S Post Master General DeJoy's supervisory board alleging it failed to review his pre-covid USPS retrenchment plan:

CBSNews: The U.S. Postal Service's controversial slowdown of mail delivery that began October 1 is sparking a pushback from 20 attorneys general. On Thursday, the state officials — ranging from California to New York — sued the Postal Regulatory Commission, alleging that the federal oversight agency didn't fully vet the broad-ranging plan before the USPS moved forward with it.

On another note, re the new item I ordered, I contacted the seller and they've advised the item has been picked up by USPS but USPS did advise of a shipment delay and they are doing all they can do get it over ASAP, with returning the item not an option at this stage, so I can only wait...

So, apparently with the "new" item that I've ordered last month, there has been some movement, albeit it appears that it is not via USPS.  Asendia USA has showed that there are movement of the item over the past week or so, including providing a new DPxxxNZ tracking number. And with this new number, it has shown that the item has arrived in New Zealand and has passed customs and it now in transit to local depot - even NZ Post is showing this!

Interestingly, USPS still still not showing anything on the item, either via the original UMxxxUS now the DPxxxNZ trackign numbers, so I'm curious to know which carrier/postal service did they get this over to NZ.

Now that it is apparently in the country hopefully it won't be too long before it turned up, if the tracking numbers / details can be trusted at all!

Do you mean it started out as USPS but ended up with Ascendia, or started with Ascendia? If the former, how did you find out it about the changeover to a different carrier?

I've just had a DHL shipment from the US arrive in 7 days.

I expect they're delighted to be getting extra business!

Well, I should clarify that when the item was shipped, the seller provided a UMxxxxUS tracking number, although the link that they've provided takes me to Asendia USA.  When I communicated with the CSR from the store after learning about USPS's suspending shipment to New Zealand, they've indicated that the item has been posted and picked up by "USPS", and they were only made aware of the suspension of mail service however USPS assured them that USPS is looking at getting service back ASAP, so I can only wait...

So for a week after the item was supposedly picked up, there was no tracking movements from both USPS and Asendia, and then all of a sudden status updates starting coming thru via Asendia but nothing at all on USPS.  Then further down (about 10 or so days ago), the Asendia site showed "departed origin country" and provided a 2nd tracking number, with the DPxxxxNZ number, that linked to a Dai Post.  At the same time I started tracking this DPxxxNZ number via NZ Post and that was when NZ Post started showing it too, beginning with Internal Arrival etc...

Does anyone know if this is working again? I'd like something posted from the US to NZ, it's not valuable or urgent enough to pay for a courier.

According to the USPS site it's still disrupted.

Oh man my friend who was in the states shipped a new phone via USPS Priority Express international last week and I just read about the cancellation of parcels.

Tracking says it went to Jamaica NY and now back to NY distribution which makes me feel like it's return to sender. The sender will be a random postshop in New York.... And my mate is no longer in the states.

What the fk do I do?

I'd just sit tight and see what happens. It's not unusual for it to seem like it bounces between centres in the same city. USPS may end up just holding it until they can send it on--they held on a parcel of mine for around six months in 2020 for example before finally putting it on a plane to NZ!
