The conman who scammed punters out of $26 million with the Fyre Festival is out of jail and back, running the exact same con again.

Mod Emeritus @TonyHughes (good old Tony) brings up a valid issue and New Word Havelock North decides that is better to punish him.

It's like an IT security person bringing up an issue and instead of a company solving it, they accuse the person of "hacking".

New World store owner being a dick.

You won't believe it, but I've been through this before. However, one had messed with the wrong person. 😁

This is a photo I took of their DC many moons ago.  Managers only pretended to care.

Convincing any kind of Operations that a safety issue takes precedence over a productivity/laziness/cost/change control issue is always very hard. Usually requires either head office or an outside force.

If this happens several times in our company, it is a reason for dismissal for the manager responsible in this area after a warning.

There's even a training film about this sort of thing.  May need to use Youtube subtitles, I'm not sure if there's an English-dubbed version.

You can see how seriously people take this, it's had over a million views.

Should add a warning, NSFW after about 4 minutes in.

But you see, there's no marking "Fire Exit" on that door, so they can't be blamed!

Mine does too, in theory. Meanwhile the department that tells us we're not allowed to wear jandals in the office often wears jandals in the office.

Place I worked at a few years ago had one of those 'in emergency only' exits.  Fire alarm went off so down the stairs and out that door I went.  Turned out, rather expectedly, to be a drill . Subsequently got told off by property or facilities or some such, for using that door, telling me it was for emergencies only...go figure.

Thanks for explaining "plethora".

It means a lot.

Left my work PC for 10 minutes and came back to find this... afraid to restart in case it decides to use a language I don't speak.
