richms:

If noone can type the name in, what is the point?

Never underestimate the importance of correct amounts of publicly visible virtue signalling.

Friend of mine works for a multinational company.  Yesterday, the day before the top brass were due to parachute in for a visit, a bunch of Te Reo posters appeared in the areas they were due to visit.

In this case though it's a lose/lose situation, post the name without macrons and you get attacked for not using macrons, post it with macrons and you get attacked because it doesn't work as a URL.  I suspect the fallout from the latter would be far less than the former, so ...

I'm sure at least 90% of people would just type the url in without any accents and hit the intended website

Unfortunately for users of languages other than Engilsh it's just another case where two or even three domain names are required to meet service expectations if you count the third item

ANZ Bank.

I'm not a customer, but became a signatory on Her Ladyship's accounts last year.

I've never received anything from them in the mail before, until yesterday.

A letter, in an envelope.

Informing me that they are reducing paper usage.

Ironic much I thought.

Then Himself tells me he got 2 of those the day before, identical letters for each of his accounts.

Thereby transitioning from ironic to whiskey tango foxtrot.

Somewhere a tree just sighed.

Delete cookies?! Are you insane?!

America.  Land of the Contradictions.

You're an adult, but not adult enough to buy fast food.

Does this imply that two 18YOs would be allowed in, as they're the adult for each other?

It's a private business rather than a government mandate so not directly comparable.

Still raises tricky questions if another group does the same and then you can't access XYZ.

I recall some pubs in Hamilton are R20 after 9pm?

Good idea, as some teenagers make complete knobs of themselves after a few drinks .

Ditto many adults. ..

Italy political theatre is W.T.F: "Wasteful Tangential Foolery"

Though it may frustrate a few particularly dense kindergarten children from bypassing for at least 5 minutes.

Even thicker-than-usual Australian politician would say "Mate, that's a fair dinkum stinker!"

Italy demands Google poison DNS under strict Piracy Shield law: ARS Technica

Italy is using its Piracy Shield law to go after Google, with a court ordering the Internet giant to immediately begin poisoning its public DNS servers. This is just the latest phase of a campaign that has also targeted Italian ISPs and other international firms like Cloudflare. The goal is to prevent illegal football streams, but the effort has already caused collateral damage. Regardless, Italy's communication regulator praises the ruling and hopes to continue sticking it to international tech firms.
...
Since Google offers a public DNS service, it is subject to the site-blocking law.
...
Piracy Shield is often labeled as draconian by opponents because blocking content via DNS is messy. It blocks the entire domain, which has led to confusion when users rely on popular platforms to distribute pirated content. Just last year, Italian ISPs briefly blocked the entire Google Drive domain because someone, somewhere used it to share copyrighted material. This is often called DNS poisoning or spoofing in the context of online attacks, and the outcome is the same if it's being done under legal authority: a DNS record is altered to prevent someone typing a domain name from being routed to the correct IP address.

It's not really a W/T/F, they said well before the launch that they'd count anything over 30s with telemetry as a success, which seems to have been the case.

Also it's definitely not the first rocket to crash in European waters, that was in 1943, although that was also a German rocket.
