Soooo rest of carpark is empty and you choose the EV charging station to park your ute.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/environment/climate-news/127590220/the-utes-parked-at-ev-charging-stations

So you want to identify as....

Kind of funny (seeing it for the first time).  And there is still an empty spot between the Hilux and the Mini so no big deal.

If it was the very last spot in a public car park, I'd park in an EV space.  That's not illegal (like a mobility park) where I live/drive.  Otherwise or on private property with a sign saying "EVs only", I wouldn't.

I got a new work laptop. Some bright spark decided to put the the most commonly used button (by me) right next to one that shouldn't be pressed unless you're sure you want to press it.

There's no tactile difference to stop you accidentally stabbing the power button when all you actually want to to do is erase the swear words in your email to HP's feedback.

Is a recessed button off the main keypad too much to ask?

Wow!

the "Delete" button reminds me of doing Development on a Unix system where the power button was next to the floppy disk eject button.

one of the guys consistently hit the power button when ejecting disks :(

we eventually had to put a "box" over the power button so you couldn't accidently hit it

May not be as bad as you expect.  The power key needs a longer press than regular key to do anything.

It's the same on my HP.  I'm a wildly inaccurate typist and I haven't accidentally put the computer to sleep yet.

I think my laptop is about 1 year old and I tend to use it about 6 hours per day so that's a fair amount of use.

My computer in my previous job used to have an occasional hissy fit where it would consecutively bring up the same error message about 100 times and you had to repeatedly press the [esc] key to dismiss it. I eventually discovered that the best way to resolve it was to place a heavy object on top of the [esc] key and then go away and make a cup of tea!

Why do they make the Delete key so small anyway? I have a Unix machine at home and Delete is the same size as Return, i.e. nice and big.

Bung: Maybe it hasn't occurred to the 4x4 rednecks that leaving their hood unlatched could be a recipe for disaster.

Maybe we shouldn't be advocating vandalism or criminal damage for what is essentially a parking offence...

It was a tongue-in-cheek comment, not actually advocating vandalism. I think @DonH's fishy solution might be appropriate for repeat offenders, letting them know they're being dicks with no actual harm done.

It also depends on whether this crowd have done it more than once or whether the diesel ute + EV cable joke was a one-off prank that seemed funny at the time.

I'd hazard a guess that this is the most likely thing - and it wouldn't occur to the prankster that this has been done before and has already gotten old.

Chemist Warehouse overcharges customer by $4000 and their 💩 response.

Not enough TLA's in the world to describe this.

I have to admit that made me laugh.

What do you find funny about it?

Everything. It's a funny visual gag. It wound up pious eco zealots. It stuck two fingers up to Tesla drivers who think they deserve special places in car parks. And so on.

The easiest work around if it is a problem is to change the power button setting to do nothing. You just shut down using windows.

Anti-vax protesters heckle Holocaust remembrance speech
https://www.stuff.co.nz/pou-tiaki/127630424/antivax-protesters-heckle-holocaust-remembrance-speech

""
A crowd of about 50 rowdy protesters refusing to wear masks heckled speakers, drove away several invited attendees, and prompted police to attend the event at the Peace Bell in the Botanic Gardens on Thursday night.

Holocaust Centre of New Zealand chairwoman Deb Hart said she was “disgusted” they thought it was appropriate to manipulate what was an “otherwise beautiful and poignant” event commemorating the six million Jewish people murdered by the Nazis during World War II.
