Sony noise-cancelling headphones - I don't use them much currently (hence in the plastic bag to keep them dust-free).

I used to use them on planes all the time, but not recently :-(

I have a pair of PXC-550's

They have been my daily driver for about 3 years now. I primarily use them for music (stuff from Bandcamp, occasionally Spotify). Occasionally use the Bluetooth call functionally as well (pairing with my phone for outbound calls).

It would be awesome to replace them or have an alternative set. Many thanks & good luck to all involved

I just use the headphones that came with my phone so this would be a great upgrade. Listen to music & podcasts

> If you have headphones, what do you have now and do you use them for?

I very much do. and I have a few pairs.

I have an older pair of Powerbeats Pro (ear loops, wireless, no cables). I use them for the gym and (Zwift) cycling as they hold on really well and are ok with sweat. I've had them for .... 4?5? years? They work fine for the use I have. Wearing glasses + masks make the ear loops a bit of a problem, but I dont wear either when I'm working out, so....

Sound quality is good, reliability has been good, tho they are starting to wear out. battery life is fine.

I have a new pair of AirPods Pro. These are my go-to for use - the case is small, fits in my pocket, the NC+Transparency mode is amazing. They SUCK for exercise tho (fall out). No complaints for non-exercise use tho. Often use them to watch movies/tv, as I can share the audio with my wife (who has the same) off the AppleTV. These live in my pocket if I'm out. I use the NC to block the world out when I'm in Countdown, for eg.

I also have an older pair of Beats Solo Pro on ear. These are my go-to for desk use. Not much good for exercise (too big, and YUCK), but the sound quality when I'm standing at my desk is great. I'd consider over (vrs on) ear next time, but these are still going strong after 4 years or so.

I use the latter 2 for calls, video calls etc, as well as podcasts, watching moves/tv, music etc etc. I'd never buy a non-BT (or non-wireless) pair again. I don't want cables. I'd consider a pair like the airpods pro which held into my ears better, but they don't exist (from apple anyway - I had Bose ones, which sadly were wired, which were fine for this)

Unlike most, I like the bass-ness of Beats, as most of what I listen to is EDM/Trance/ambient etc - electronic music, basically.

I have a pair of JVC HARX700, which I mainly use for music and gaming when I'm at my desk. They're decent overall, but I find them uncomfortable when worn for long periods (due to the weight, I think).

I've used Samsung Galaxy Buds (but the left one became almost inaudible) and more recently Buds Pro for music and audible with my phone, and for Google Meet with my laptop (but often have to reset the sound settings).

My Sennheisers, also not properly focused :)

For when I play first person shooters, otherwise they are lying with the cable mess on the floor.  Some wireless ones would be amazing.  Also have some xiaomi older ear buds that keep on losing pairing with the left and right ear buds!

I hope insane enjoys his EAH-800 as much as I enjoy mine.

Haven't yet tested the 30+ hours of battery life. Now, the noise cancellation is worth writing about! The WAF (annoyance not acceptance) is sky high. 😁 On max, everybody has to stand in front on me to get my attention. I don't hear anybody calling for my attention. Nearly missed the loud motorbikes zooming past me on the road this morning. The dual device connection is also a great feature. Not sure if I like the "auto pause when headphones are not worn" feature.

The English voice prompts are a bit annoying. The cushions are super soft, I hope they will last. Still getting used to the position of the buttons. They "feel" very far behind my head.

Still testing the other features

You probably get it next week.

@ANglEAUT:

Not sure if I like the "auto pause when headphones are not worn" feature.

This is a feature common with most modern headphones/earbuds. You can turn "auto pause" off - install the app, go to settings, "Headphone fitting sensor":

That's really good that it's an option, I tried to use the Sony XM2s on long flights as noise cancelling earmuffs to try sleep - but found they automatically turned themselves off after 10min or so. Did manage to do a little better after playing Spotify on zero volume - but the moment my head touched the headrest it would activate the touch controls and beep in my ears waking me up again.

Not that this has been an issue in the last two years...

Thx. I had already found the option. It was more a mention of the feature & me testing if / how much I liked it.

If you have headphones, what do you have now and do you use them for?

I use my Sony wh-1000xm3 to listen to stuff on the go and on airplanes due to the noise cancelling on them.

I have a set of Razer Barracuda X which i use for gaming and listening to stuff on the PC, along with Zoom/Teams calls.
