A Twitter exchange between two "blue checked" Twitter accounts
  • Ben Shapiro, American conservative political commentator
  • Ted Cuz, United States senator for Texas, former presidential candidate, Trump crony
Ben Shapiro: I have always wondered what a women's body feels like. and looks like in real life. that would be so cool

Ted Cruz: The first time I entered my human wife, I said, groaning in her ear, "This is exactly how mother said it would feel."

Ben Shapiro: Omg you got me kinda horny right now Mr. Cruz

Ted Cruz: Have you ever tasted the entrails of a man, Ben? There is no carnal pleasure as delectable

Twitter overrun with fake but blue accounts basically

Musk need to fire twice the number of people he's so far fired, basically

I wonder once there's nobody left to fire in Twitter maybe he'll fire Tesla employees. oh wait ...

Wikipedia? That's a.... controversial opinion. Any particular reason why?

Left wing bias in the entries is fairly common.

Allowing unqualified numpties to edit something that is a principle source of reference seems unwise to me.

I think that is partly because of the nature of Wikipedia. People who take the time to want to contribute to the greater good and not just look after themselves tend to skew left 😋

NZ Herald: ‘Techno-king’ Musk testifies in lawsuit over Tesla compensation package

Tesla CEO Elon Musk took the witness stand to defend himself in a shareholder lawsuit challenging a compensation package he was awarded by the company’s board of directors that is potentially worth more than $55 billion (NZ$89.5b).

...The plaintiff’s attorney tried to draw Musk into admitting that he controls Tesla to such an extent that he can sway the board to do his bidding.

Among other things, Varallo questioned Musk about his title of “Techno-king,” a role that Musk has previously noted comes with “panache” and “great dance moves.”

...Musk said he never intended to be CEO of Tesla, and that he didn’t want to be chief executive of any other companies either, preferring to see himself as an engineer instead. Musk also said he expects an organisational restructuring of Twitter to be completed in the next week or so.

...“Are we in the Tesla trial or the Twitter trial?” Musk wondered at one point, casting a quick glance at Chancellor Kathaleen St. Jude McCormick.

She also presided over a lawsuit that Twitter filed against Musk earlier this year to force him to carry through with his agreement to acquire the social media giant. McCormick dismissed that suit this week after Musk completed the deal, subsequently declaring himself to be “Chief Twit.”

Musk also downplayed the notion that his friendships with certain Tesla board members, including sometimes vacationing together, mean that they were likely to do his bidding.

Buzzfeed: Jimmy Fallon asked Elon Musk for help when #RIPJimmyFallon started trending on Twitter, and he basically offered zero assistance

Jimmy Fallon isn't dead — despite what some Twitter posts have people believing!

The rumors apparently all started last night when someone jokingly tweeted that Jimmy had died, but included a photo of fellow late night host James Corden.

I just read https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/elon-musk-fires-more-twitter-staff-after-spying-on-private-slack-chats/LNM67VQRDVDT5DVNKI52WU5KPM/ and can’t say that I’m impressed with Elon.

I understand that there are a lot of people hostile to him working within Twitter, but he needs to show more class. Mocking people who were just fired isn’t cool.

Some of his behaviours lately make me thankful that AU and NZ have better employee protections.

If this is the behaviour that other Elon run companies have, I don’t think I can buy a Tesla on principle.

Lastly - I’ve noticed that he has copied Sparks agile “I’m in” moment and taken it to new levels. Click I’m in or else you are out tonight.

Do people believe Twitter? I wouldn’t believe anything I read on any social media site like that. Not that I use it or read it personally. I’m just surprised people think it’s real.

I don’t. I regard it (and most social media) as an echo chamber… where people get more extreme and toxic towards each other.

Aljazeera opinion: Why Twitter under Elon Musk is good news for China’s rulers

... In February 2020, Zhou Shaoqing, a resident of the northeastern city of Tianjin, tweeted to his 300 or so followers about the authorities’ handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, suggesting that officials would “intentionally or otherwise, reduce the number of confirmed cases”. For that and other similar tweets, a local court handed Zhou a nine-month prison sentence for “picking quarrels and provoking trouble”.
...
Musk might be the planet’s richest man, but he is particularly vulnerable to pressures from the world’s most powerful authoritarian government — one that has been deft at manipulating or leveraging foreign businesses’ access to the country to compel them to toe the Communist Party line.

Musk has significant business interests in China. ...

Last month, Musk suggested that Taiwan agree to being partly administered by China as a way to resolve their tensions. The proposal was welcomed by Beijing but slammed in Taipei.

His early moves after acquiring Twitter don’t inspire confidence. Musk fired Vijaya Gadde, the official responsible for trust and safety on the platform. The Washington Post has reported that a first round of layoffs would target about 25 percent of the company’s workforce, with an emphasis on departments including legal, trust and safety.
...
Yet, until now, Twitter has largely upheld its own policies, including when that has meant taking down Chinese government-linked disinformation campaigns. In December 2021, Twitter said it removed 2,048 accounts that “amplified Chinese Communist Party narratives related to the treatment of the Uyghur population”.

These actions would not have made Beijing happy. Musk’s acquisition of Twitter has now created an opportunity for China to influence the discourse on the social media platform.
...
Chinese government officials are already calling for Musk to remove labels, or, as they say, “biased words,” to Twitter accounts linked to state media.

Is there even going to be a Twitter to believe at this rate? Seems like Musk's gross ineptitude on this will cook the bird sooner or later.

Elon Musk is a 'Space Karen', says projection on Twitter HQ

"Suspected ex-twitter staff have projected insults about Elon Musk onto the HQ in San Francisco.

The text includes lines such as 'Space Karen' and 'worthless billionaire', and came after the deadline had passed for Twitter staff to accept Musk's working conditions."
