Because such people are already marginalised. Pick on someone your own size, etc.

Honestly? This thread appalls me. That anyone can suggest running over people with a steamroller and that anyone can laugh about it makes me ashamed to be a kiwi.

I think a few folks need to take a short break from keyboard. There are some parallels between this thread and the Covid lockdown/vaccine protests...Lets not go there.

Time for them to go and be upset about network names being changed while having no actual impact on anyone.

hairy1: So what are these people going to be protesting? Lock downs? National banning phones in schools?

Does it matter? These people are motivated by the fact that they are angry and socially disengaged. Their purported 'political cause' is just a way of justifying their criminal behaviour in their own minds.

Social media has a lot to answer for.

Protesting is not criminal behaviour. The right to protest is a pillar of democracy.

The rich people whose profits are on the line when people successfully change things have a lot to answer for, too.

Protesting by blocking roads to stop honest citizens from going out and doing there work is a criminal offence. At least it is where I live. I will be very surprised if it’s not a criminal offence in nz either. If it’s not then the system is the failure, not the protestors.

Assuming the clue is in the name, I can see why so many think NZ becoming part of Australia is a dumb idea.

They have a valid and pressing message. I do however believe they are using the wrong method to convey that message.
I fully support moving to rail transport for both people and goods.

Protesting isn't inherently illegal, but actions undertaken as part of a protest or as a form of protest can most certainly be illegal. People choosing to break the law as a form of protest are by definition, criminals.

Nice try, if that makes you feel better, then by all means. My point was that this conversation was starting to become a bit of a contact sport.

Probably to different degrees, but ditto. I'm actually reasonably sympathetic to their views, but their chosen method of protest is utterly unacceptable.
