On some days in my office I can hear an electronic device, presumably an iPhone, screeching at regular intervals all day. I've been trying to figure out who the culprit is, but recently I have started noticing it happening when one particular person is in the office.

It's really annoying - almost right up there with cars parked on the footpath.

Put into your companies teams chat: @everyone would everyone mind checking their mobile device for an alarm going off frequently and switch it to silent or vibrate so we aren't all alarmed :)

I wonder if that'd work on a domain with 100k+ users. Might have to give it a try one day.

Someone in my office has alerts enabled on his laptop, phone and watch, so you get 3x the fun every time there is an email/teams alert comes in. I just think they are oblivious of how painful it is.

I can't understand why people would have their devices set up like that. You'd think the owners of the devices would go absolutely stir crazy.

Initially I thought maybe they don't know how to change the settings, but the person I suspect of this at work is someone who works in an IT role so I'm sure she could fix it if she wanted to.

The whole "holding a phone like a platter in front of the face" thing seems to be getting more common. Is it that people think that they are not going to get irradiated if they don't hold it up to their head?

And who wants to have a loud shouted conversation that is potentially private, out in public?

Baffles me.

Came here to read about someone walking into a bank and strutting around making chicken noises. Am disappoint.

… or someone farting in the lift.

Everyone knows to use 'silent but deadly' in that situation...

The person I passed yesterday shouting at their phone, held up in front of their face, with the speaker volume turned up fully and yelling 'Mum, the turtle will die if you do that". The number of strange looks they were getting and the eye rolling didn't make a difference.

It shows the world how important, how Kardashian-like you are. Your conversations, like theirs have the sort of infantile banter that really shows you should be flying your private jet to the UN to deliver a lecture on reducing carbon emissions.

I REALLY hate how people walk around oblivious to the world holding a conversation on speakerphone. If you can hold it to your mouth surely you can hold it to your ear....

Then there are the people who walk around in public, staring at their phone, oblivious to anything else around them. Combine that with the increasing number of aggressive cyclists on the footpath and it's an accident waiting to happen.

Personally I'm a bit of a weird hybrid as my phone streams BlueTooth to my hearing aids. So on one hand I don't hold my phone to my ear... but on the other hand nobody can hear my phone audio.

Oh, and I don't hold my phone in front of my chin like a platter. I hold it in front of me like a beer.

Am I a bad person?

We were discussing the other day the calamity that could occur if you combine an outward opening door of an office or retail location, onto a foot path where a scooter at speed (as often as not, without a helmet), someone leaving said office, and airbuds could create
