I have always wanted a flight in a Spitfire or a fighter jet. As my disabilities take more and more from I fear that will never happen and time to do so is ticking away at an increasing rate.

I feel much the same about a few things and am slowly (where time and means allows) ticking these things off.

Handsomedan:A full or half-sleeve tattoo. I like tattoos, but have none. I can afford to have a large tattoo on my arm or arms, but there are a couple of reasons why I haven'r ever had one (despite trying once in England over 25 years ago, but being denied, due to "reasons").
1. I am wildly needlephobic. Mortally, dreadfully needlephobic. I have to be sedated to be vaccinated. I just don't do blood tests. I am starting to panic, writing this.
2. Permanent artwork - I am yet to settle on a specific thing that I want, that is uniquiely mine and doesn't have a "use by date" feel about it.
I'm the same. I've wanted a sleeve for years. I don't have any tattoos. My wife has two which she got before she was 20 (a while ago now).
Needles don't bother me but I've no idea what I'd get. Also, everyone I've mentioned it to thinks it's a bad idea.
My main thing for this thread is learning to dive. I've wanted to do it for years. I've done the discover course twice (about 15 years apart) and loved it, but never quite got around to properly learning to dive.

Just do it Mike. You'll never die wondering "what if", then.

Sadly it's just one more thing this disease has taken from me or will take from me.

As far as I know there is only one specially converted Spitfire with a rear seat in the UK. There is also a converted P-51D Mustang in the USA. I always wanted to fly a DH. Tiger Moth myself, which I did in Kent with the G-ACDC. It's the oldest one left that's still airworthy.

In October this year, I accomplished my bucket list of doing a marathon. It was the hardest thing I've ever done! Last 10km was a killer.
In order not to have any long-term health disadvantages, I suggest leaving it at the half marathon, that's ok. Personally, I drew the line at 15 kilometres because I know many people with worn knee joints and other operations who always wanted more, and more, and more.
But I don't have to deliver a message from Athens to Sparta and then collapse dead. 😉

Agreed. Half marathons are more fun.... less training required.
Full marathon requires months and months of training and lots of pain during.

There is a Spitfire and a P51 both with passenger seats here in New Zealand. I think the Spitfire is dual control. I have ridden in the P51, a ride in the Spitfire is on my to do list. I have flown a Tiger Moth and would absolutely love the chance to fly a Spitfire though that opportunity isn't very likely. I do have my eye on a aircraft that is nearly as iconic but it's not a single seat fighter.
@MikeB4 if you are serious about the Spitfire ride and think you could be got into the seat please PM me. I know who to contact.

As per the long winded topic 😅
For me it's flying first class (OK let's start with business class!) with family on a top tier airline to a far enough place to really enjoy it.
I can afford it but I can't get myself to do it because I'm counting how much groceries I can buy with that money!
What's on your list that you could do or have today but you can't get yourself to do it even though you have the means / money to attain it?
I took my family on a long-haul round trip on premium economy; while not business class, it was still nearly double the price. I thought it was money well spent. We all enjoyed the experience, and I wanted to teach the kids a life lesson, work hard, and you can do nice things from time to time. Plus, I don't really think humans should be flying around as much as we do, so it operates as a natural handbrake.

This is something I never knew I wanted to do until now. That looks awesome!

Thanks @Technofreak Both at a single place! Now I've found a reason to come and visit NZ after all. Bring your kids and wives in when I fly over Wanaka at ant knee height. I'll have to dig out my active aerobatic rating. 🤩
