rugrat:

They are ending it. Also was only in North Island.

Who woulda thought that shopping via honesty box wouldn't pan out? Particularly since even otherwise honest shoppers wouldn't be overly motivated to get everything just right to help maximise the duopoly's profits.

Seems to work for PAK’nSAVE.

They check random number items first shop, then you can be checked randomly after that.

Computer works out who to check. They’re probably watching cameras as well.

Edit: And you have to show ID to sign up for service, so if get banned it’s not like can ask for another card as someone else.

I only know about the Countdown case, talked to someone who works there and they said losses due to fraud were significant.

They've solved that issue in Australia with e-gates. They only open if the "checkout AI" determines that you paid for all your objects.

TAKid:

So, in the checkout line.  The person in front waits till their checkout is nearly completed and gets their phone out.  Scratches around for a couple of minutes finding the app, presents it to the scanner.  Then scratches around for another minute getting rid of the app and finding their credit card app. Pays the bill and then decides to load their bags in their trolley.  Really efficient system to replace two cards in your wallet.

That's fantastic.  Hopefully that means they need to hire more checkout staff

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

In true kiwi fashion.. you build it, we'll game it

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/woolworths-scrambles-to-close-loophole-after-shoppers-register-multiple-cards-to-gain-points/E5LSJURYWVEUXFGTMK25WBEC4Q/

Also confirms the boosted suggestions from your habbits and app use like we thought the point was.
And lol not boosting the margin before offering it.

Well no, but doesn't mean they're not products with a better margin already.

Given current events….seems like the app & web developers are mice not men or women….
