Thanks for that, I agree.  BP cost more than New World and Pak n Save fuel. We also get the supermarket voucher for that 6c off (no min purchase). Without stacking it's even more obvious.

I find the supermarket experience so unpleasant that I go out of my way to avoid it as much as possible. Because this country has irresponsibly allowed the duopoly to have its own way in all things, we are now stuck with just two overweight players squashing freedom of choice. I can't avoid shopping altogether so I try to at least minimise the pain by getting what I can from independent shops or Four Square and the Warehouse (where Mainland cheese costs a fraction of the supermarket price). Yes, Four Square has been swallowed by Foodstuffs but at least it still retains the corner shop appeal.

I don't belong to any kind of rewards scheme anywhere. I hate hoops and gimmicks and would rather just keep what I can of my privacy and pay the full price.

I also hate manufacturer bullshit like changing packaging sizes to hide price rises. That Mainland cheese at the Warehouse cost $8 for 700 grams the last time I was there but it is still a lot cheaper than a kilo anywhere else.

Carrefour, France:

Good on them, and I wish that happened here and that the manufacturers got called out on it.

Small point of history: Four Square was formed first, in the 1920’s, and evolved into Foodstuffs.

Interesting. I didn't know that. I thought it was just another takeover. I wish they had just stuck with Four Square.

With the 20 cent fuel discount you get for setting up the app, does anyone know if this can be stacked on top of a 10 cent discount when they do one of those days? Just figuring out when to use it.

I phoned them and asked that Everyday rewards be removed from my account as I don't agree with their Privacy policy. They closed the account entirely so I could no longer do any online shopping.

I phoned them up, waited on the phone for 30min, then spoke to Customer care. They told me I can not have an online account without Everyday Rewards, but she'll set the preferences not to email me.

So even if you don't agree with their policy, you'll be tracked if you create an account to shop online.

I think the discussion is now OT - I originally started this to debate / discuss the personal info Everyday Rewards is asking people to allow in their T&Cs.

Perhaps @mods can lock this thread and we can have another thread on the general Everyday Rewards goings-on.

I heard the French government asked supermarkets to name and shame brands around shrinkflation. Wishful thinking here 😢

No. On our online receipt the Wednesday the 20c represented 6c daily special and 14c this promo.  Together it is 20c. Yes on the Wednesday I didn't get 10c it was a 6c. Accumulation is also gone burger. You note that the 10c promo emails we stopped receiving those at the end of January.

Update - the Wednesday 10c is advertised for tomorrow. Last week we had it wasn't.  However I am not sure if the 20c promo is 20c all up or whether it is 10c + 14c. I think the former (all up).  No double dipping. Love to be proven wrong though.

The fineprint yes you cannot double dip. If it is 20c, 20c is max. It is not 20c + 6c or 20c + 10c.

Thanks.
The closest BP to home is currently 16c more than the Pak n Save across the road. So with a 6c Pak n Save voucher from the last grocery shop it's still cheaper than using the 20c at BP so it's a bit useless here.

I see NZ Consumer are calling for regulation of this type of scheme. IMO it needs it.

And the big concern is when (not if) data is leaked or hacked... What then?

OR when their "Select 3rd parties" they share data with go broke and all the data is bought by someone who has no such agreement...

Yep. Around here, the 'special discount' prices sometimes available at Mobil, BP and Z are higher than the ordinary prices at Gull.

We get all of our fuel from New World. Need the 6c voucher, we just buy something like a bottle of milk on the way home to get the 6c.
