I have been waiting nearly a Month for a refund from these clowns after a laptop they said was in stock wasn't. They have blatantly lied to me and manipulated everyone into depositing money into their accounts and then never sending the items.

This morning I tried an order on thier website to see if they were still trading - the final step "Checkout" is now disabled, so I guess they have gone under much to my horror as they owe me close to a grand.

I have tried everything from threats to Fair go, Commerce Commission, banning from Price Spy, etc etc, when I've been able to get thru to the women on the phone (as they have never answered any of my emails) and all they do is keep saying the money will be there in a couple of days.

What is disappointing is that I have dealt with them for many years and never had a problem - it was only until they revamped their website that they turned to custard. I suspect that they had new oweners and/or Suppliers too?

I'm going back to my old faihful QMB - they have never let me down. I only used to deal with C1COM as they were cheap and had fair freight prices.

I am hoping my bank and the Disputes tribunal can help me now.

Good luck to all the poor saps like me in getting your money back!!

Ouch, a grand. I'm down $140, I've asked for the reverse charge thing but I doubt it will work. I'm sure they've closed whatever account that was.

Yeah C1 used to be good, I've used them half a dozen times with no problems. From now on I'm not even going to use online ordering, in hindsight it was silly of me to do so. Within a 30 minute drive of me there must be at least two dozen computer stores. I bought my harddrive from ETC Computers yesterday (5 mins drive), for $10 cheaper than what C1 charged. Arrg, I'm such a moron.

Apparently they are not at their office location anymore. My mate brought a computer setup from them $1500~ worth, and hasn't seen either the money or the goods.

So do not buy anything from them at all. Think they have done a runner.

Their website is down now. Guess that's it.

Can only hope the bank processes the disputed transaction form quick enough - doubt it though. I suspect they've already done a runner.

I am fairly sure that it does not matter. If you can prove you did not get the goods then you will get your money back regardless of the state of C1. This is covered by Visa/Mastercard. It is then your banks job to recover the money (which I understand they are rather good at Wink )

They have two RMA'd 500GB hard drives of mine at the moment. I hope they can be bothered testing them and sending them off to SeaGate, and sending me replacements.

I've heard nothing since I sent them away.

Make sure to lodge a complaint with the police. Apparently they closed down on the 24th of March but were still taking orders until yesterday, and they've done a runner to Korea with the money. More of the story over at gameplanet.

Although I suppose you can only complain from a legal point of view if you ordered after the 24th. Since before then they were still open for business.

All of these details are from business cards which I have, I am only posting this info as some of you may be lucky in getting your money back. As they have defenitly closed down and done the runners.

Best of luck.

This is looking like a good case for Fair Go right about now.

Should I contact the police about this? It seems I won't be seeing replacements for my faulty hard drives ever again.

IMHO I think everyone that has been ripped off by c1 should go to fairgo

The more feedback they get the higher the chance it will get aired

Hi there,

As I said before my friend has been ripped off by these guys. He is writing to Fair Go and will be going to the police tomorrow. Does anyone have any more advice to what we should do to improve his chances of either getting his money or any parts for the computer he ordered?

Andysh

EDIT: He paid by direct deposit through internet banking from his National Bank Account

You haven't said how he paid,  if he was *fortunate* (sic) enough to pay by credit card,  then he should IMMEDIATELY contact the card company and dispute the charge.

Sadly I'm not aware of anything he can do if he paid by cash, direct deposit etc other than going to the police & Fair Frading.
