Just got the email.

Daily charge 253.91 c/day Day 35.96 c/kWh Night 33.22 c/kWh

Rates are inclusive of GST.

Got solar?

This plan gives you a buy-back rate of 12c/kWh for the excess power you generate. If you are GST registered, it may affect the amount we pay you for energy exports.

No match to my Z plan as I had 3 free hours, so its off I go. The Poweredge offer was better than Meridian.

I'm waiting to receive the email from Meridian...

According to the last Flick bill, 74% of our power was used off-peak (11am-5pm/9pm-7am weekdays, and all weekend). I work from home (though that's changing soon), and so do washing/dishwashing etc. during the day time off-peak.

We have a PHEV and an EV, and often the PHEV will be charged during the day off-peak, the EV overnight on the granny charger (though sometimes do day-time top ups), because the off-peak price from Flick is the same throughout.

So with me soon working in an office, will need to work out our new sweet spot for power usage, and also depends on what Meridian offers, and compare with other companies to find what suits us best.

Haven’t got the email either but from when I last checked both meridian and genesis were the same roughly for the amount used as Flick was these last months, maybe $3-6 difference per month. Not including any new customer sign up bonus which both were advertising.

Haven't had the email yet.

I am on the Peak/Off-Peak plan - I charge my car overnight (I use 80% of the 64kWh battery on the days I commute to work).
I've done a spreadsheet for myself, and at the moment its Genesis that I'll be shifting to. As a bonus I get to use Chargenet charger at the same rate I get at home (which is still more than Flick is/was).

Not holding out much hope that Meridian will offer me anything worth staying with them for.

Hhmmm thats bad.

The 3 free hours is really hard to beat if you have a battery.

Pretty good if you have 3 phase, an EV and timers as well :)

I moved from Contact to Flick 18 months ago, standard flat rate plan, was good while it lasted.

Got the Meridian letter this afternoon, moving to Freedom Plan at $1.725 daily charge and 28.69c per kWh.

Last months Flick bill was $207 for 564kWh, Meridian would be an 18% jump to $245. Tonight's homework has been assigned.

Also got the email (well I assume it's legit), comes from "mails.meridianaccount.co.nz" no display name set so gmail just shows the long email address used for email.

meridianaccount.co.nz - nothing hosted there.

It looks like their portal is actual hosted at "secure.meridianenergy.co.nz" based on the login page...

But meridian does seem to be slightly cheaper per month (bit under $1 er day).

And a quick reminder, the email from Meridian has pricings INCLUDING GST, while your invoice day rate and kw/h are EXCLUDING GST.

Thanks, missed the GST differential, corrected for that it's only a 3% jump.

Yep got the same rates $1.725 daily charge and 28.69c per kWh which is what I checked before. Honestly our household is probably better off without having to worry about when to take a shower etc. for $5 difference.

I have a very old power board and am on Grey Power/Pulse. Just wondering how this compares. Don't see any mention of it here.

Meridian still seem to be the best option for us if we go for their solar plan, it looks like it might be about $300 a year more for us than Flick, get that back for the first year at least with the signing bonus.

Got the email. Flat rate, more expensive than Flick was, and more expensive than Powershop will be. Makes the decision easy.

Been with Flick for years, single person low user household, 5kW solar + Powerwall.

Meridian have offered Freedom plan low user daily charge 172.50 c/day and flat rate 33.21 c/kWh + $10 /month credit for first year.

Thanks @dazzanz for sharing your comparison tool - matched my Flick bills to the cent!

Compared my July usage for Meridian offer vs Flick low user Off-Peak, Octopus low user Flexi and Ecotricity low user ecoSolar.

Octopus came out tops, $20 better than Meridian - $2 of that from their better export rate.

Ecotricity similar to Flick and around $14 better than Meridian - but concerned they're about to be assimilated too (founded or unfounded) rules them out.

Octopus is the clear go-to for me - especially in summer as will be exporting on most sunny days.
