Hey all
It seems like people are ripping me off left, right and centre these days!

The latest case is with showbiznz.co.nz who sold me 4 Pearl Jam tickets in Auckland for $155 each and called them "Gold Standing".

Having been to Mt Smart before, and seeing that Ticketek were selling them for $120 and calling them "General admission" I assumed that the ShowbizNZ tickets were right up the front of the stadium.

I received my tickets in the mail a couple days ago and they have printed on them $120 - General admission

So what did I pay $35 extra per ticket for? Thats $140 more in total for nothing!

The official word form ShowbizNZ was that it was administration fees, privilege for buying the tickets a bit earlier and "not their fault".

Surely this is misrepresentation and covered by the Consumers Guarantees Act??

It's a scalper service. They charge whatever they want, regardless of the prices on the ticket...

Live and learn I guess, I certainly won't be purchasing from them again

I can't understand why this sort of thing goes unnoticed yet people get offended when someone sells a ticket on Trademe, is it not the same?

Its eactly the same as trade me - but if you want to get a ticket and dont want to miss out when shows sell out in less then 10min then you pay a premium. I personally dont have a problem with it and have used them recently so I could make sure I got premium seats for the upcoming Fleetwood Mac show.

Thats how they advertise there service so its not like they are trying to hide the fact that you will be paying more.

When you live your life on Twitter and Facebook, and are only friends with like minded people on Twitter and Facebook, you are not living in the real world. You are living in a narcissistic echo chamber.

They are a rip off, imo. However, to be fair the tickets you got are presumably Fixer tickets, which is the front GA section and these sold out pretty quick as I understand it. Even if you'd bought seated tickets from them, you are not guaranteed premium seats, it's just a guaranteed ticket but could be worse than what you'd pick up yourself in the normal sale.
