A good customer service story!

Just over 2 years ago I bought a Toshiba 47" LCD TV.
At the time I specifically asked that the TV be full HD 1080p capable.
The company I bought it from didn't have anything in stock but spoke to their supplier, Monaco, who said that they were selling a Toshiba 47" TV that had been a display model and that it was a full HD panel.
So I bought it and was very happy with it.

At the time I didn't have anything to test the TV with at the full 1080p but did try 1080i and it looked great.
This all changed a couple of months ago when I got a Blu-ray player.  After trying for a few hours to get it working at 1080p, changing cables and playing around with all sorts of settings, I tried a couple HTPCs as well but could not get it to work.  I left it for a while thinking that it was something that I was doing wrong and tried again the other day with the same results.

So I did some checking on line and I found out that the TV can only handle up to 1080i inputs even though the panel is actually 1920x1080 pixels.
I didn't even know it was possible to get TVs that were 1920x1080 pixels but could only take a 1080i input and the company I bought it from hadn't come across this before either.

So a quick call, by the company I bought it from, to Monaco, and a quick email from me to Monaco, and they are going to replace it with a new TV that is 1080p capable!
They are even going to organise someone to collect the original TV so I don't have to worry about getting it back to Auckland.
