Changing power/gas company - can anyone give me some opinions or thoughts on Nova Energy?

Consumer Powerswitch says Nova's the biggest saving to us - but I don't want to deal with them if they don't have good service or customer service etc - I just don't know anyone with them to give me their honest thoughts on them...

Thanks :P

They've been fine for me.

Phone them up
They deliver
You get invoice and pay
Done.

Simple, easy.

We're with them and find them pretty good to deal with. Really friendly staff on the phone; sign up was pretty easy. They did however spell my wife's name wrong on the application, and (for whatever reason) this seemed to be difficult to change. Not exactly the world's biggest deal. No issues at all since, though we're on direct debit and have had virtually no dealings directly with them since. Power and gas come in, money goes out, no fuss. And as you say, competitive pricing. We also rather like the fact they they are taking gas (biomass?) from the southern landfill to help generate electricity.

My mother is also with them however and she had a bit of a difficult experience. The meter reader read her meter wrong (thousands of units out - transposing a couple of digits I think). She got billed accordingly and she had something of a hassle with getting the money refunded (didn't happen at all, then when she complained got it twice...).

So a mixed response for you.

Er this was in 2009... I had no probs with them, but changed to Meridian for a few years as cheaper. That plan ended and now on Genesis. All have been good service but pays to shop around for a good deal.

We used them for LPG tanks for years, no problem. You get a better deal on the rental if you pay per year and you can negotiate the price per tank down if you always pay on time. They sold the business about a year ago so I'm switching to Elgas.

Nova LPG is now owned by Genesis Energy. So check what pricing Genesis offers as well. Genesis used to resell Elgas LPG, but bought Nova LPG after major problems with Elgas over winter 2017. (Late deliveries meaning lots of people ran out of LPG).

Any issues with Elgas lately? Was thinking of switching from Genesis (formerly Nova) to Elgas tanker.

Also, used to be with Nova for electricity. They were fine. I liked the graph on their bills. I switched after a very long time with them just because I could get power cheaper elsewhere.

No recent problems. And they should in theory have plenty of capacity now, due to loosing the Genesis contract.

Also Elgas (at least when I was with them) charge a flat fixed fee for having 1 to 4 cylinders. So if you have 4x 45kg cylinders you don't have to pay extra rental fees with them. As a lot of the other companies charge the rental per cylinder rather than per site.

Note that you need a location test certificate if you want to have more than 2 45kg cylinders on your house.

We are with Nova, had an issue with billing when I signed up. It was resolved after I emailed.

Was then (last week) asked to complete a survey as we had been with them three months and mentioned this as something that happened. Got a phone call the next day apologising again and saying they had set up a team to address any issues coming out of surveys to try and improve customer experiences.

Thanks, I'm switching then. I am waiting for them to ok the tanker delivery.
At the moment we have 2, 45 kg cylinders but the husband wants at least one more to hook his kiln up to, so your input was especially welcome on that. We know we need someone to come out about that- will Elgas do it?

Whelp, turns out the Elgas tanker doesn't deliver here so if I am going to be tank switching I may as well stay with Genesis.

I moved my power and gas to Nova last month after my previous company tried to rip me off one time too many. Nova daily fixed price is way cheaper than other providers. Got $250 for signing for 1 year.
