Hi,

My sister has bought her school laptop, and im cleaning it up for personal use.  I have changed the registered owner, and changed the username from the school provided 'Educator' to her name, but in 'Documents and Settings' it sill comes up as Educator, and other things still refer to 'Educator'

Does anyone know how to change that?

Just create a new user.

If you change the username of an existing account the documents and settings folder doesn't change.

Do a FAST (File and Settings Transfer) of the current account, just documents and settings should be sufficient. [do a old pc to new pc, even though it's going to the same machine, but FAST doesn't know that.]

Create new user account, then run FAST to import the settings which you saved from earlier step. [do a restore from old pc to new pc, which is still the current computer, under the new account]

That "should" work. Give it a try, good luck.

Otherwise, another method is, manually copy all the necessary documents, and perhaps export her IE settings and whatever - depends on how knowledgable you are with setting files all over the places - then copy them back to their rightful places under new user account.
