You've gotta be careful buying anything from Harvey Norman. They have some very questionable business practices - one of which is to have heavily inflated prices on their white stickers so they can put stuff on "special".

They've got Prepay Vodems priced at $149 reduced to $99 on special - these have only ever been $99 since they were launched and plenty of other retailers were selling these for around the $69 - $79 mark today.

Very true, not going to be the case with this one though.

Anyone notice these are still being advertised in the paper this morning (Sunday star times)

Surely HN knew these would sell out, this crosses the line between a short stocked promo to deliberately misleading.

There was no way there was going to be stock left on 27th, how can they still be advertised?

Probably couldn't pull the advertising in time I would say but, at that price and limit of one per customer, you had to believe there were very limited stocks.  I agree that they should have had more though.

I spoke to a guy in the Hastings store this morning who said they were trying to source more for another go at the promotion at a later date, but who really knows.

I doubt they'd get more - it's an end of line product. I suspect the reason it was so cheap was because they've cleaned all the remaining stock up from HP.

Like the Zinwell 620 DVB-T box @ $ 549.00,
almost double the DSE price

Not only HN... HP has brought out millions of variant of HP Mini... there's like slight variation for some small bits then it's entirely different product number/model. It was a headache to shop for it.

Now, I'd just be looking at ones with nVidia ION, or with AMD Athlon Neo Dual-core+ATI.

The one my sister got had a manufacture date under the keyboard of November 2009.

No "netbook" style machines have an optical drive. Part of the reason why they're smaller!

I spoke to someone at HN earlier today and they suggested a nationwide sell out. Does any store have any left?

Will Bond & Bond match a competitor's price?
In the unlikely event you find a lower price on an identical product locally, we will match it.
