c71931f: It's just their username on GeekZone.
Doesn't necessarily mean that they work for "Subway"

Ummm, yeah I realise that.

I was just being silly.

c71931f: Didn't seem like it after the stuff you said in the most recent 2-3 pages..SurprisedUndecided

Well I don't appreciate being hassled when we are simply talking about an issue here.

As I said, we are all free to moan as much as we like.

Subway doesn't have to get involved.

Despite being annoyed by HN, I am still capable of humour and reasonableness.

I am very much looking forward to hearing from my local HN in Auckland so I can collect my machine and get this whole annoying situation over and done with.

Sorry tons, but I don't think anyone wants to hear it. You could maybe start a thread for Harvey Norman customer complaints and we can keel watching this thread for updates on our dirt cheap netbooks. You could even alert the Twitter guy to the presence of a customer complaints thread. Thanks for your input so far :)

Perhaps an admin could help to get this thread back on topic, seems to be degrading into personal attacks .... not good

Well let's not forget who started this spat - Subway.

But don't worry, I'm going to ignore Subway now.

And I promise to generally be a whole lot nicer moving forwards Laughing.

Sweet.

Now I don't want to get hopes up, but I recall a post saying that it was technically possible to get these into stores soon. Fingers crossed the wait isn't too long.

Ah! I just realised a good reason not to divulge the model number, if they have a mix of different models, they won't want some customers feeling gipped.

Right, sounds like we're all good and dandy now and I can perhaps rejoin the thread :P

It cant be too far away now! I haven't heard from my local HN since 7 Jan, asking for definite confirmation that I still wish to follow through on the raincheck. Replied yes and that's been it. I have a feeling next week, we should receive some more definitive information.

I've spent the last half hour reading through these pages and as a result warned someone.

I don't want to read posts here about how the HN laptop is "second hand" or "inferior quality" until someone of you has one in your hands and can back any information with facts.

This means I will lock the discussion on the next repy with these words.

The person who received the warning is on the brink of being banned here.

Exactly. If they give a model no, the first thing geeks would do is to google like crazy. And then we would quickly develop preconceived ideas about that particular netbook, whether it be good (a slight upgrade from the HP, which would anger those successful buyers who actually queued up on Boxing Day) or bad (a downgrade and this thread will be at least 50 pages long, not to mention the complaints HN proprietors will be getting).

HN states a completely new (in terms of specs) netbook is being built so it can mirror the HP as much as possible, so I guess there is no model number.

I would highly doubt it would be "second hand", as for "inferior quality", I thought as the original was a HP anything else would be of better quality

I got told I had to put a minimum 20% deposit on, or I could pay in full. I had $90 in my pocket so gave them that.
