It may just be a HN reference number ANB - Asus NetBook.

I popped into HN Mt Welly yesterday, and the salesdroid told me that the asus model number was 10EEE. (making stuff up on the spot?) And they were hoping to have stock in late this week or early next week.

Also was told that the proprietor was personally going to phone everybody with rainchecks/backorders when the stock arrived.

I'm disappointed they cannot tell us what chassis it is at this stage in the game.

I'm just hoping that the battery is a removable type so i can get a 6 cell if the 3cell proves to be too shortlived. Apart from that possibility i see any of the recent Asus models as an upgrade from the HP

I was also told a few weeks ago when they phoned that they are all going to be Black, which is good, last thing I want is a pink netbook :)

Careful noddy76, that post sounds a bit 'whiney' to me.

You might get a warning for being too negative about all this.

The salespeople, who are just doing their jobs, are probably tired of this and have no way to find out a nonexistent model number. It is a shame Harvey Norman can't supply better information. Oh well, fingers crossed the netbooks aren't too far off.

Tons, the warning received before was for your name calling. I see you have not understood it.

Well firstly I haven't name called anyone in this most recent post.

Secondly I thought the warning was more for my general whinging and implying that the products might be comprised of some 'non-new' parts (in order for HN to save costs on this deal).

And thirdly, I was just trying to be a little bit funny with this most recent post, based on how much I've been hassled here, despite the fact that other people haven't been too impressed with HN either also but yet haven't received a warning (i.e. why did only I get a warning and not anyone else!).

And finally, as I've said before, why all the anger at me, and yet not at HN?

I think you've all been very unfair.

Yeah, the salesdroids are stuck in a difficult position, but they could just be honest and say "head ofice hasn't told us the model number" instead of making stuff up. There will be a model number somewhere, it will be a standard asus chassis will the appropriate hard drive, RAM and OS/software stuffed into it. Just a shame the HN purchaser hasn't released this detail to the salespeople/customers.

And yeah, hoping it shows up soon, mobo out of the desktop has to go back for repair so i'll be getting withdrawl symptoms soon :)

The warning you received was for name calling. Obviously you need it to be made public so you understand what you've done wrong.

I think that's because your posts are full of rage, accusing HN of providing substandard products, second hand products and so on - when in reality no one have even received one of these units yet. From what I read in the previous pages I'd call that "trolling".

So, one last warning, public this time: stop trolling.

Well it looks like no matter what I say or no matter how I try to justify myself, you clearly aren't interested.

However, as one last attempt, I think you will find that the subject line of your warning email to me mentioned "name calling", but the body of the email to me only discussed the second-hand/inferior quality issue. So please forgive me for not being clear on this.

Further, there is no rage, merely disappointment. Are we not allowed to discuss our disappointment here? Others have! Why not me? So I've had more spare time to post than others. That doesn't invalidate my opinion, or mean I'm full of rage.

wikipedia says that trolling refers to "posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion".

Well, in what I've posted, where is the line between being inflammatory and posting my opinion of being disappointed?

None of my posts have been extraneous or off-topic (from either HN, or the netbooks themselves).

I didn't directly say the products were second hand. All I said was that I wouldn't be surprised if they used parts from returns to save cost. And I said that I am going to consider my machine to be 'equivalent' to a second hand machine. There is a difference here.

I have had no intention to provoke anyone (alright, maybe I tried to hassle Subway a bit, but only because he hassled me first).

Therefore I reiterate what I said - I think you have been very unfair.

Anyway, hopefully my local HN in Auckland will call soon so you'll never have to hear from me about all this after then.

You are allow to discuss your disappointment. But you have been saying the company is going to give second hand items, is going to give inferior quality products and going on and on when the laptops are not even out there yet.

And you keep coming back to me on this. So just stop now.

I have given you a warning before. You just don't know where to stop, right?

Thank god that's over.

Anyway. We have an SKU ANB-9842.
Interestingly when this was posted on GPforums it was edited out very quickly.
