I been shopping with Amazon.com for nearly 11 years. But I am finding the whole experience rather frustrating lately.


- First of all the shipping has gone up by around four folds since I first started shopping with them in the nineties
- Their delivery times are getting longer and more unreliable - My latest purchased items were supposed to be delivered before Xmas - but I only got them this week
- The packaging is less bulky - it is almost like a cardboard envelope - and I get books with corners damaged in the last two shipment
- Most of the cool stuff (that you can not get in NZ yet) can not be shipped to NZ (and no I don't want to pay $50 extra for the privilege of offshore forwarding services or impose on my relatives overseas.
- Their catalog is too complex and when you search for more obscure stuff you get so many Irrelevant stuff that you have to scroll through




However, to me, the most annoying thing is the personalized emails:


Why do they always promote stuff that CAN NOT be shipped to your registered shipping address in their emails.


I get another email this morning promoting some hand held devices and a Kindle hardware. Why?


Their profiling system should be intelligent enough to exclude non shippable items so customers don't turn off the predictive promo emails - which is one of the best marketing tool that online etailers like Amazon.com has.

Good questions.. i have found quite a few things myself listed on Amazon that won't ship to NZ.. Such like models etc. Sucks really.. because it was hard to find the ones i was after. ShipIt is the only way - but at a cost inconvience..

Yeah same here, GTXBoyRacer. The site does say 'Warranty issues and manufacturer restrictions prevent us from shipping certain products to all geographical locations.'

But if that is the case, why do they waste my time emailing me about a product that has shipping restriction given they know where I live? I find amazon.co.uk does not have this restriction.

Valid issue, but not sure how it would work for someone like me.  I have 3 shipping addresses set up with Amazon.  One home address, one NZ work address, and one US work address.  If there is something that I absolutely need but cannot have it shipped to NZ, then I ship it to a colleague in the US and get them to give it to someone coming over, or put it in the internal company mail.  Amazon wouldn't know what to filter in my case.

BlueToothKiwi: I find amazon.co.uk does not have this restriction.

I actually once got an email about a sale on Amazon MP3 - which we know for a fact will not sell ANYTHING to us NZers. When I asked them what could be done to prevent such irrelevant emails coming to me, they suggested turning off all promotional emails.




I finally have fibre!  Had to leave the country to get it though.
