old3eyes: Went to DSE Krd AKL at 10.00 am all sold out.  They took a raincheck and it should be in end of next week.

How did you manage to get a raincheck old3yes? I tried Featherston St at about ten past nine this morning and they were out, aslo Queensgate this afternoon and they said they no DSE was taking rainchecks and they had been told once they were sold out that's it.

I think this is turning out to be a bit dodgy and misleading trend in advertising -  these electronics resellers having very limited stock (New Year sales included) not even enough to last an hour after opening. Its really put me off these companies.

Imagine what would happen if one of the petrol companies advertised for $1.00 litre petrol and then when you turned up, they said "sorry, only 1000 litres countrywide".

I was told no rainchecks when i tried today at DSE glenfield. Was offered an overpriced seagate as an alternative.

I would have given the 1tb to family and kept the 660 gig esata ones that I have of there here at the moment as I am sorting out my "linux iso" storage situation.

I am sure it will become the normal price shortly, but with freeleech on a popular linux iso site over easter I may hit the need for them sooner...

Anyone else get an invoice online saying "awaiting payment confirmation"?

Starting to reek of "we aren't going to supply"? Frown

Mine's also dispatched with courier number, but it was at the "awaiting payment confirmation" stage for most of today.

Like riahon, I did order quite early today (before 7).

Got mine in the post this morning, and it looks very smart.

Has anyone here tried to take one apart?

My online order (when presumably in stock as order was taken OK) for one of these went to 'Processing' on the 1st April, then 5 days later my order has been updated via email.

1Tb drive - Cancelled on my request (I've done nothing!!!!)
Freight - Cancelled - This item has been made Discontinued and cannot be sourced from the supplier.

So those who ordered online might want to check your inboxes.

I went into the Papanui branch on Monday and managed to get a 1.5TB for $170.  They were offering this as a result of running out of the 1TB one.  Almost as good a deal as the 1TB one.  I imagine you can't this one any more either, but if any more of you get a "cancelled" order you may want to ask about this one.

I have had this same exact problem in the past when ordering online from DSE.
