Wow! $85 to join the club? I'd back myself to get GA tickets here through ticketmaster anyday. Maybe it's worthwhile in the US or even Australia, but tickets never sell out all that fast here. Five, or even a couple of minutes? That's all it takes to buy tickets anyway.

It might be worth it if fanclub got preferential seating (i.e. best seats in a reserved seating scenario).

The club offers more than just pre sales tickets. It has a load of other fan stuff in there.
What you get in the initial signup is:

Personalized Membership Card
Introductory Letter from a Band Member
Printed Autographed Band Photo
So What! 4 issues per year
Online Access
Membership - TShirt
2010 Member Package

For a big fan of Metallica (like myself) this is worth the $85 alone

Argh, two major problems. 1) Auckland. 2) Vector Arena (horrible sound)

I'll stick with my memories of the Wellington 1998 gig and the $60 price tag, hee hee.
I'm not travelling that far, especially considering how far past their peak they are (latest DVD was a pretty poor performance, and I'm the die-hard fan)

Used to be in the club, got lots of goodies from them!

Crossing fingers for a ChCh announcement.

an outdoor concert in early October is a bit risky , indoors at least you are guaranteed the concert wont be canceled due to weather .

Yeah, pretty good if you're a big fan I guess.  I wonder how long they've been doing the shirts.  Imagine having 10-15 years of fan club shirts, that'd be pretty cool.

I see tickets go on sale to members of the fan club first, any one here a member of the fan club?

Has the email already been sent to fan club members detailing the presale offer? Or if I join now will I still be able to gain access easily?

Fanclub members get 4 tickets to each show.. You can still become a member and get the tickets, the email has gone out but your presale code is in your account information on the metclub site..

Just joined the fanclub to ensure I get tickets. If anyone else joins, use my membership number (888481) as a referer. Maybe i'll get something
