generous777critic: im not trying to "affect trademe" why is everyone so scared and wimpy that they cannot admit trademe is ridiculous. and this "a fool and their money are easily parted" quote?... lame. im not a fool because i actually acknowledge that you would have to be a fool to run your business with trademe.. anyways im finishing this thread, looks like no1 can agree with trademe overpricing here, cause they are either suckers or feel like a bigger person by saying "oh well change site" pathetic that everyone is so stuck in their ways and following the herd that they cant even admit NZs biggest trading site is a SCAM.

Feeble minded push overs..enjoy topping up your trademe suckers

You don't get it, do you? No one "enjoy topping up". No one is scared of saying anything. It's just that not everyone agrees with you.

That's all. Not everyone agrees with you.

how can someone disagree with being ripped off?. this isnt a matter of disagreement really, its more like becoming aware that trademe is sucking money out of most the country. trademe is taking advantage of the their status as the number 1 NZ trading site.

Moral of the story: either wake the hell up new zealand and boycott this scheming online trading system, or continue to fork out hundreds of dollars for nothing because your to lazy and dumb to seek anything better.

the ambition in this thread to purge this money consuming giant is non existent and pathetic

It is all a matter of perspective.

I personally do not feel ripped off, and probably buy a couple of things a year, and sell a similar amount.
By the sounds of it, if you need to top up with 100s of dollars every week, then you are NOT a typical trademe user. And you may want to look at setting up your own website, pay for advertising, hosting, salaries, GST etc etc. If you need to top up that much, I am sure the IRD would love to have a look at your bank account.
I am not trying to wind you up, but you need to seriously consider your argument, and whether your use of trademe is typical of most of the users.

Also, trademe hardly suck the money out of New Zealand. Last time I checked the money is staying in NZ, paying NZers salaries, paying for webhosting in NZ and may even help with upgrading NZs internet infrastructure.

They charge because they can (and have to to maintain a profit). They have an extremely large audience - which provides your auctions with high viewership. A few bucks here and there to put your product in the national domain is more than worth it.

Sella would offer no fees because they probably have less staff to pay than TradeMe and they would want to attract users from TradeMe over.

But as the others have said - if you don't like it, don't use it.
