If you want to worry about people speeding join the police.
If you are driving slower than someone else wants to travel and can safely get out of their way. GET OUT OF THEIR WAY!

People travel 10Km faster than the speed limit as this is the tolerance level your future employer's allow without being ticketed.

If you are in a taxi when they are speeding and would prefer they slow down. ASK THEM TO SLOW DOWN!

Buttonmash: http://www.middlelanemorons.com/

We have right lane morons in this country.

lxsw20: patatrat I have no idea why you're explaining this. As you say people do know this, people are also only human and have their driving flaws, I?m sure you have had a moment or two of inattention yourself, just like everyone else....complaining about it on an internet forum is going to achieve what exactly?

Where exactly was patarat complaining?  The whole point of forums is for people to express their point of view - although the topic is about taxi drivers...

We could.

Or....

lxsw20: people are also only human and have their driving flaws, I?m sure you have had a moment or two of inattention yourself, just like everyone else

Speeding isn't like forgetting to indicate, or not having your hands in the correct position on the wheel. Speeding isn't a driving flaw. Its a deliberate action. Speeding in not the result of inattention.

Unless you have one of the faulty Toyota in America, your car does not magically speed without you making it.

As for me complaining about it, I think you'll find it was the OP that was originally. Maybe you could tell him off too. Actually, while you are at it, tell off some of the other posters complaining about other things.

The Poster HiK1000716 stated that he sped. I want him (or her) to know the risks they are taking with their life (not that I particularity care about their life) and the lives of others around them.

Are you actually calling me out for advocating that people obey the law?

So if some guy is doing 100k's in a 50k zone why shouldnt I worry?

The point is I shouldnt have to get out of the way, they are just being a danger to themselves and others.

That doesnt make it any more legal or right.

Yes i should of, i wish i had that night. Next time i see it i will not only ask them to slow down but report them to their employer.

I'm basiclly telling you to get over it, you're not going to change peoples attitude by giving them an e-telling off. Do you feel better now, or do you you want to drag out this pointless debate a bit more?

Telling some one to "get over it" is just silly.

If some one does some thing illegal why should you just "get over it"? Our laws are in place for a reason.

This is a dicussion, like all other threads on this forum. I find it interesting, if you dont, please feel free to not return, no one is stopping you.

OK don't get over it, dwell on it and complain about it, what ever floats your boat I guess.

first of all, have you had your speedo calibrated? how do you know you're definitely doing 50 and therefore he's definitely doing 60? when i'm doing 50 i'm doing 43.

secondly, the police all drive at 60 in a 50k zone ever noticed that? they also beat the amber light, ever noticed that?

i'm not saying speeding is not wrong.

Firstly, yes. It is. I dont notice this only in my car too.

Secondly. Yes the odd police driver does speed.
Does that make it right? No. As you said.

The point in the second post was lost to me really.

kingjj:
...I have to agree, some taxi drivers are incredibly aggressive with their driving and speed, passengers or not.

I find that Taxi drivers on the North Shore have an inability to properly merge lanes. No matter how many KM's they drive they still manage to come up with some very 'creative'/dangerous driving.

As much as I have a hate for Taxi drivers, their habits can easily be forgotton when drying behind a slow or indecisive driver. I'm of the view that slow drivers, or slow drivers hogging the fast-lanes cause more accidents than fast drivers as people stuck behind slow drivers have to resort to extreme measures to get past, sometimes to the detriment of their own safety.

I'm lucky I only have a 10-15min drive to work in the mornings. I'd be full of rage if I were to drive for hours with Aucklanders on a daily basis.

"RAGE"... This is another thing. People are all up against "road rage" but you never seem any campaign trying to tell people they should speed up to the flow, they should always indicate, they should merge correctly...

No, they only care about speed in their campaigns. Like all these other "small" things don't have any impact on road conditions.

I'm come to the conclusion that unless you are speeding or drunk, one can do what ever they like on NZ roads.

Watching people go through red lights in front of mark police cars confirms this for me...
