https://www.space.com/40439-blue-origin-launches-new-shepard-2018-test-flight.html

30 April 29, 2018

"Blue Origin, the private space company founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos, launched its passenger spaceship New Shepard on a test flight Sunday (April 29), carrying a dummy astronaut and experiments on their highest spaceflight yet.

The New Shepard 2.0 rocket and capsule, which have both flown in space before, lifted off from Blue Origin's West Texas launch site at 1:06 p.m. EDT (1706 GMT). Despite several hours of delays (thunderstorms thwarted a 9:45 a.m. EDT launch target) and countdown holds for last-minute checks, the flight appeared to go flawlessly.

'Another spectacular test mission,' Ariane Cornell of Blue Origin said during a launch webcast. 'Everything looks nominal from here.'

Blue Origin launched New Shepard to a target altitude of 347,485 feet (105,913 meters), Cornell said after the launch. That's almost 66 miles (106 km), slightly higher than the company's typical target of 62 miles (100 km) — the altitude widely accepted as the boundary line for space, Cornell said.

'Today, we're going to push the system a little bit harder,' Cornell said during the launch webcast.

Sunday's launch marked the second flight of Blue Origin's New Shepard 2.0 vehicle (after a successful December 2017 test launch) and eighth test flight overall for the company's New Shepard program. An earlier version of New Shepard launched a series of missions in 2015 and 2016 before it was retired"

I love this video.......I've watched it over and over.......the new music makes it seem like many of these clips could have been filmed yesterday.

The fissure that the camera is pointed at has quietened down a lot - it was really impressive an hour or two ago.

IIRC the camera is about 1/2 mile from the vent.  The large whooshing and booms from another nearby vent that's been going for days, spurting lava bombs hundreds of feet in the air.

The footage is being shot from a house North of where fissure fissure #18 is marked, I think camera facing South / SE.

"Richard Branson joined Virgin Galactic and The Spaceship Company teams this morning, on the Mojave Air and Space Port flight line, to witness VSS Unity’s second successful, supersonic, rocket powered test flight. SpaceshipTwo Unity rocketed to an altitude of 114,500 feet, reaching a speed of Mach 1.9 before gliding back to the Mojave Desert for landing.

“It was great to see our beautiful spaceship back in the air and to share the moment with the talented team who are taking us, step by step, to space” Branson said. 'Seeing Unity soar upwards at supersonic speeds is inspiring and absolutely breathtaking. We are getting ever closer to realizing our goals. Congratulations to the whole team!'"

Wow - not sure if it was an illusion from atmospheric conditions - but that seemed like there was an increasing pitching motion in the few seconds before they shut down the engine (from about 1:20 on).

Edit - I see others have made the same comment.

Couple gave son 5 notices, money before seeking legal action to move out of parent's house

Lots of videos of this loser, but this one stands out.

CNN: "Some people would say 'What is up with this millennial generation? That you guys seem so entitled.' What would you say to those critics?"

Michael: "I would say I'm not really a member of that demographic they're talking about, of that group. I'm a very conservative person. The millennials they are speaking about are very liberal in their ideology."

CNN: "But you're 30 so you are technically part of the millennial generation. I don't think there's a delineation between liberal and conservative."

Michael: "Right... but when people speak to the millennials and their general nature as a millennial they speak of more liberal leanings. Do you disagree?"

CNN: "It's not for me to disagree. I think a millennial is a millennial is a millennial, based on the year on which you were born. But it's totally your opinion to say that doesn't apply to me."
