I have a love for the civilization games that is bordering on addiction! After playing Civ4 for the last few months i decided i wanted to play the original. So today being my day off i decided to download it and settle in for a long day. However the game runs so slowly its very fustrating. I used to have the game on my old 286 many years ago and it ran a LOT faster. Any ideas?? Its very gutting really

I also found a download for civilization for windows which works just as well. But the game graphics just arent the same as the original.

Does anyone else here play civ? Its the ultimate geek game people.

I still quite enjoy Civ3. Altho I did have to download the latest patches to fix a refresh rate problem with the nVidia drivers (tries to set 250Hz Refresh rate until you patch Civ3!).

I'd try updating it.

Depending on your OS and hardware, it may be better running civ under DOSbox. I use this for running old Dos games like Warcraft under XP and Linux.
