My wife isnt into geeky stuff at all really, nor technology really.

I don't see it as a positive or a negative really, I guess it just makes geeky things my thing that I do, I tell her stuff I find or figure, she listens. It works for us :)

Jaxson: It all depends upon what they look like.

In the morning!

What about how they smell?

@Nate, if you're trying to seek for approval from the Geeks here to draw courage to ask Leslie to marry you... you have our blessing!

So go on! Just ask the girl already! Sheesh!

No its not its bloody awesome, I was great friends with this American woman who was a single mum while I was working for an school here. She wasn't on the benefit as she clearly didn't need the money but she was so damn clued up on Microsoft her previous employer that she taught this newb alot over the time I knew her. I never went out with her as I had just split up from my wife and didn't want to jump into another relationship but when I look back I should off!!!.

I was employed as the Network Admin and was pretty green, hey the school was desperate for some tech to manage their pcs I had certs in Desktop publishing and Computer maintenance but that's it. As far as Networking went I had to learn it from scratch. Then she turns up and taught me everything. for free. I kinda ended up idolizing her as she was brilliant, apart from that she use to tell me plenty of funny stories when working for Microsoft and what they would get up too.

After about 4 years she moved to Thames and that's the last I heard of her. I never thanked her for all the help she offered.

She would fit right in at geekzone.

pebbles: Yeah... love having a partner who is into geeky stuff too.
Makes buying gadgets easier to justify, but on the same note you could end up like akianz & shocknz where one has the latest gadget and just loooooves rubbing it in the others face.

But being geeky/techy doesn't mean it's all we talk about - far from it! If you were with a person that only ever talked about one interest, no matter what it is, I don't think I could stand it!

I'm not so sure I'd like it if my other was also a developer. It's great to have someone around who understands when I pull allnighters, or when I w00t around the house like an over-excited 6 year old because I've cracked something but if he also pulled allnighters we might not get any time together! If we both got into coding marathons life wouldn't be much fun.

There's no justification needed for spending money on gadgets or updating hardware but this ends up with loads of gadgets x2.

Getting downtime is not so easy - although we talk about all kinds of things, downtime is often spent working on some project or other. Or gaming. If you think having two geeks together might get too geeky, just try having two geeks who are both passionate gamers in the one household!

I've got friends who are always complaining that their partners hate their gaming - not a problem for us.

Going to conferences is more fun since theres very few that we don't both want to attend. We don't necessarily see each other during the day but being able to share ideas and impressions later is great. This also means we can co-ordinate sessions & effectively be in two places at once ;)

I can't imagine being with anyone who WASN'T geeky - I'm pretty sure I'd drive them mad.
