Ok here it goes.
I pay a company to host a guildwebsite however I only get 5 meg storage. Good for me but means others have to link their pics and videos to other hosting sites.
I now pay another site (DOT5.com) to host 2 gig storage 80 gig bandwidth a month.
Is there anyway I can link pictures/videos that myself or othersf ftp up the host (DOT5.com) to the guild website.
I look forward to your responses and apologise again for using the wrong forum.
Regards
Malcolm

You can hotlink to any other server - simply use the full URL in the IMG SRC tags, including "http://...".

You own site a and site b, and want to store your images and videos etc on site b, and have them displayed on site a?

Easy (but long term you are better off using one host for everything, for example my browser can be set to only load pics from the server im visiting, so I wouldnt see any of your pics if i browsed to your site).

This page shows how to link to images from another server.

Is that what you were after?

Yep, I relise I can hot link however the only link i can get is ftp:// not http://.

Yep I own both the hosting on A & B. However is A is a much better guild hosting website but B offers much better storage.

Lets say I go into my host and up load a picture how do I change the ftp:// in front of the picture name to http://.

My over all goal is create a folder and allow people to upload to and hot link to, however I believe you cant hot link to ftp:// files?

I know this sounds simple but even the host owner that I pay the money to says you cant link pics/videos to ftp://.

Is there a way that i can create a http:// folder rather than a ftp://.

Thanks again I know there is a way around this.

Cheers
Malcolm

You can only use the http protocol if there is a web server on that specific host and if the ftp folder is mapped to a folder on that server/domain. You have to confirm this with your hosting.
