You're not supposed to be able to but my brother has had it three times, so he reckons. So maybe it is possible.

Thought I had it once, just turns out my cat had fleas and slept in my bed. Lol

Not as far as I am aware. What happens is the virus enters a latent cycle after being Chickenpox and battling your immune system and sits in your spinal cord (dredging up memories of a lecture here, this part may be inaccurate), where it can re-activate which generally turns up as Shingles in older adults.

Edit for spelling fail.

the short answer is yes.

the long answer is - incredibly inlikely if you contracted true chicken pox before. but some people fail to develop immunity or have inadequate immunity at the time of reexposure.

reactivation of virus dormant in spinal nerve root during time of inadequate immunity causes shingles.

i guess the main point is, you can get it real bad so make sure the sick is well looked after otherwise in rare circumstances can end up in the wooden box.

I ended up with shingles a couple of years ago (when I was maybe... 28/29). Trust me from first hand experience. You do NOT want them.

Pain was unbreabale. I wasn't quick enough to read the symptoms and got it after the point I could take anything for them, so had to live with it and take Codeine and dab a chloform mix to dull the pain.

I had many nights without sleep
