I always beleived no didnt get it off the kids when they had it
Once was enough had it for a month

But can you get Shingles instead?

Im fairly certain you cant get it twice. I've never had it before. all my family got it when they were young as. :(

Not as far as I am aware. What happens is the virus enters a latent cycle after being Chickenpox and battling your immune system and sits in your spinal cord (dredging up memories of a lecture here, this part may be inaccurate), where it can re-activate which generally turns up as Shingles in older adults.

the short answer is yes.

the long answer is - incredibly inlikely if you contracted true chicken pox before. but some people fail to develop immunity or have inadequate immunity at the time of reexposure.

reactivation of virus dormant in spinal nerve root during time of inadequate immunity causes shingles.

i guess the main point is, you can get it real bad so make sure the sick is well looked after otherwise in rare circumstances can end up in the wooden box.

my 5 year old has had it twice.
couldn't believe it the second time round, but was less severe than the first time.

I ended up with shingles a couple of years ago (when I was maybe... 28/29). Trust me from first hand experience. You do NOT want them.

Pain was unbreabale. I wasn't quick enough to read the symptoms and got it after the point I could take anything for them, so had to live with it and take Codeine and dab a chloform mix to dull the pain.

I had many nights without sleep
