Ragnor: the 50 year old incorrect conventional wisdom around nutrition


I saw a graph once of obesity rates overlaid over the last 50 years or so and it was a crack up.  At the time the 'low fat' mantra was introduced it went up and has stayed up since then.  I really wish I could find it again, many of our parents are from that era.

A bowl of sugar is 99.9% fat free and that's about what's in every single 'diet' food etc that fat people force themselves to eat.  Nearly every fat free alternative is highly processed and your body/stomach etc doesn't have to work much to convert it all to energy.  Queue diabetes and obesity, as well as people eating, feeling good and then feeling hungry an hour later as well.

I just had a double down in Aussie, a few of us had to try it and we are now all feeling sick. The weight of it was incredible. Wouldn't do it again but at least I can say I've tried it.
What amazes me is that everyone goes on how bad it is but if you pull it apart, it's two bits of chicken, some bacon and some cheese. Wouldn't a 2/3 price quarter pack be worst???

Partner and I went into the KFC at Dominion Rd to grab a couple for dinner - queue was out the door plus the drive through was backed right up.  Incredible, seems like everyone in the area was there to try it.

Tasty, and it's satisfied my KFC cravings for the next six months.

As above. I was surprised by the number of people that were waiting in the queues that had no idea about the double down, they were just there for dinner. Ihad the zinger and the original. Both good in their own way.

I agree, the worst part of the burger, the rest was pretty nice.  Although I wonder how popular it would be, if it wasn't a "limited 5 week" release

I think next time, I'll order some wicked wings, get some bacon from home and some mayo and put proper cheese in it

It's not bad 7/10 I reckon, on a scale with Burger Wis or Burger Fuel being 10/10.

Would be better if there was a hot and spicy option with bbq sauce instead of the cheese/cracked pepper sauce.

I agree 100%, BBQ sauce would be the way to go. The Tower burger is still my favourite from KFC. Shame it's not all year round.
