The IRC channel has left me in a reminiscing mood today and made me want to remember how far the internet has come. I found this quite interesting.

Ah, the innocence of youth. Complete with all it's misunderstandings and incomprehensions.

It's pretty much a given that noone knew what the internet would grow into, but it's still interesting watching it's progression on a global stage.

Oh, well. I somewhat grew up on the old bbs's, telnet talkers, and irc systems. It's second nature to just jump onto an irc server when needed.

It's also interesting watching the line between online & offline steadily blur. As time progresses, people who meet online think nothing of meeting someone offline, and people you meet offline you end up talking to more online.  I will still admit you can get a better gauge of someone in person though, especially when you're reading non-verbal queues. But even if you only talk to someone online you can still get a pretty good feel for them based on your interactions with them.

Fun.

Jp.
