casewindow: I have a couple of Family Guy star wars parody movies that I got from Amazon UK.
I can transfer the digital copy to Windows Media Player using the unique serial code.

If I try to do the same in iTunes I get told that the code is only valid in the UK/Ireland stores.

I can't think of a way around this in order to get the movie onto my iPhone?

Go to the UK iTunes store
Purchase a free iOS app
when it prompts you for a username choose the option to create a new usercode, follow through with the process (enter a UK address, and choose None for payment method)

You can then use this to redeem you digital copies.

Apple does list this as being against their terms, but it currently does work fine.

Ah, but someone still did get paid (the DVD was legitimately purchased after all). And from memory, unless the entertainment industry revised that law too, we're still legally entitled to defeat protections that are for the purpose of region-locking.

This is not in any way a response to the post above, but in case anyone besides me is interested, these are the relevant terms from the Apple's NZ terms and conditions for the NZ iTunes store:

Gift Certificates, iTunes Cards, Content Codes, and Allowances purchased in New Zealand may be redeemed through the Services only in New Zealand, its territories, and possessions.

The iTunes Service is available to you only in New Zealand. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance.

The iTunes Service is operated by Apple from its offices in Australia. You agree to comply with all local, state, federal, and national laws, statutes, ordinances, and regulations that apply to your use of the iTunes Service. All transactions on the iTunes Service are governed by the laws of New South Wales, without giving effect to its conflict of law provisions, provided however that you may have rights under New Zealand law, including under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. Your use of the iTunes Service may also be subject to other laws. You expressly agree that exclusive jurisdiction for any claim or dispute with Apple or relating in any way to your use of the iTunes Service resides in the courts of Australia. Risk of loss and title for all electronically delivered transactions pass to the purchaser in Australia upon electronic transmission to the recipient. No Apple employee or agent has the authority to vary this Agreement.

Most likely the US store agreement contains similar. Interesting it is operated from NSW, and both NZ and some NSW laws will apply.
