If you go into another retailer and ask them to price match what JB HIFI are doing, they may do that. They would rather make a sale these days, than lose a sale to a competitor. The advantage of this is you don't live close to JB hifi, or you want to avoid the crowd.
It will be interesting to see how much off a discount we get of TVs and such. Have been compairing the prices on some TV's between the NZ site and the Aussie site, cant see how they can charge $4000nz vs $1900aus. i'm expecting to get some serious $ off.
loganjames: How do you know what the cost of an item is? Do you get to see the supplier invoice? I think these sales can be a bit misleading.
We often get these deals for Noel Leeming and Harvey Norman through work, and I've also wondered how a customer would actually know whether the price being offered was actually cost+GST. In the end, I treated it as a negotiating shortcut. After all, any ticket price is just a starting point. You don't have to buy, and if you're a good negotiator, you can always haggle a better price, particularly on big-ticket items. However, if you're not good at negotiating, or feel a bit weird asking for a discount, the cost+GST deal gives you a shortcut to get a better price. I used this deal to get a good price for my wife's laptop a couple of years ago - $2K for a Sony Vaio laptop, a bag, external HDD and mouse, saved about $700 off the sticker price. Whether it's actually cost+GST is largely irrelevant - if the deal they offer you is good enough, you'll take it whether or not it's actually cost+GST.
lizard: whilst I largely agree with you, there is a legal matter around what can resaonably be considered false advertising, but ultimately I think the last time the challenge was issued, it was down to the whole "landed" cost thing.
Nobody know whether you need a flyer or not? Does presenting the flyer electronically count? Have saved the flyer to my iPad, surely printing it out just to hand it over is not required?

According to the flyer itself, you need the flyer.
Reading are dcks about it on their $9 Tuesday, showing them on your phone wont work. "It must be printed"
I went to it last year, grabbed a yamaha HT amp and floor standing speakers for around $750 all up. At the time, they were usually selling the speakers by themselves for $1000.
Just a bit of a tip. The TVs aren't much cheaper at all!!
say a few hundred, got a quote for the UA40D6000 for $1397, which is alright, but they wree on sale a few months ago from Noel Leemings for $1399. So not much saving
went down to harveys at lunch...same TV $1388
Plus got the starter pack for $160 down from $299 and an HDMI cable
So saved money and don't have to go to the rush :)
