I agree it's unlikely he is racist per se, but indeed lacks the grace to know when his mouth should be closed. It's still an outrageous comment with racist overtones and for this he should be sacked (in my opinion). I would (and have) instantly dismissed a staff member for such a comment (my example involved the N word from a South African contractor).

I agree the remark has racist overtone, that Williams probably didn't mean it like that is by the by.

Yeah, I think there is definitely grounds for sacking. I for one won't be shedding a tear if he goes. For me, it is about the total disrespect he has shown for Tiger, the guy how actually made him somebody, rather than any racism.

The only defense I can give Williams is the this comment, as opposed to all the other stupid stuff he has said, was made in private and subsequently reported. He wasn't 'working' at the time.

I know I would be very embarrassed if even half the stupid stuff I say in private was reported. I don't consider myself a racist, sexist or any other sort of 'ist' but I bet I have said enough stupid things that could be taken out of context to make me look like it.

But before you say it I'll get in first: He is in the public eye. He chose to be there and part of the cost is that nothing is really private. If Williams doesn't like it he can work for a living in anonymity like the rest of us.

World to Steve Williams:

Just ... stop... talking... NOW!

Williams says he abhorred the former world No. 1's infidelity, which was exposed by the media at the end of 2009 and led to the end of Woods's marriage.

''I just didn't like having my name associated with it. That sort of activity is not something that I have anything to do with,'' he said.

PLEASE... just stop talking dude.

LOL I was thinking the same thing. It's just amazing to me that he isn't intelligent enough to learn to shut his mouth.. It's now impossible to believe this isn't deliberate.

That Interview was recorded 10 days before the racial call...... I would say he has learned to shut up by now

I'd put $2 on the fact it won't be the last very stupid thing we hear him say in the next 6 months.

Possibly.

I kind of find it funny but I'm also a bit embarrassed.

I used to think he was a cool guy back in the day and was proud a kiwi was Tiger's caddie, yeah I know he just carries the bag but still.

Now I think: What the hell did I ever think he was cool for?
