timmmay: The thick underlay is worth it, for padding and insulation, according to a friend who had it done recently. Wool carpet is what companies promote, but a friend got nylon carpet and likes it just fine.

bazzer: I'd just make sure the carpet matches the drapes.

KiwiNZ has no carpet. Maybe he just has a landing strip.
