I just counted 16 fakes of a particular product on TM. I have reported them in the past and TM did nothing. I just reported them again. If TM do nothing, is there a higher body that will do anything about it if I inform them?

I saw a fake on Trademe.
I had a further look and that person was selling 4 items in total...Looking very dodgy.

I emailed Trademe and told them, I see today that one of the listing has been removed. The other 3 havnt and finish in an hour with $3k worth of bid between them.

There is of course the chance the chance im wrong (Which I said in email to Trade Me)

Depending on what the fake product is notifying the local distributors or importers can be a good measure.

The buyer has the legal right to get money back in this circumstance, so from that point of view the legal position is good for a refund.

I know someone who got ripped off a couple of times and from then on notified a distributor so many times about fake product on TradeMe that they sent her free genuine product several times : ).

[Edit: Point of the story, trademe banned the sellers very quickly after being contacted by the distributor]

Hmmm it seems trade me take fakes 'very seriously for some things, for example Louis vuitton, yet other stuf f never gets noticed. I wonder if that is due to importer / rights holder pressure

It almost certainly is. The amount of fake stuff on that site is probably too much for them to effectively monitor.

I thought customs check fake goods when they come into NZ. I remember seeing a program where they had found some. I don't think it is up to you to report them, It is up to trademe and the owner of the IP to take action and police it. Certainly if the brand that is being copied wants to protect their IP, they should have resources to check places like trademe, which is the biggest online trading place in NZ. If they aren't checking trademe, then they may not care too much.
