So after speaking to SNAP again yesterday we tried a couple more trouble shooting ideas, I removed the multipoint extension and plugged the fritz directly into the wall socket......

after 1 hour

So who would of thought a power extension could of created so many errors...heres hoping it stays this way once I get my DLM reset!

What else was connected? As its not like you can't use a power strip and not get a good connection as I have DLM 1 with errors as low as that.

Nothing else was connected to it, It was just easier to use it than plugging into the wall. I understand you should be able to use an extension i'm guessing there was something wrong with mine that was causing RFI..

The issue with the errors is that I am on a high dlm profile...and as seems to be the case with others as your dlm gets better the errors tend to get higher but its so much better now as it was in the hundreds of thousands before changing the power strip.

No it was a belkin, well it wasn't cheap to buy....

Belkin only make cheap ones. No real filtering in them at all. Chances are it was dumping a load of noise onto the ground.

I have noticed that a few cheap nasty ones I have got recently have finally stopped with the earth connections, probably to solve nusiance RCD tripping, but it also makes them usable on stereos etc where you dont want every pop and crackly from the mains to get put onto the earth.

Jekkyl: No it was a belkin, well it wasn't cheap to buy....

Personally I hate Belkin gear. I had a wireless router of theirs and it was crap. Everything else I've considered has been expensive or reviewed poorly, or both.

That limit has been set by Chorus; there is no way around it.

On Snap website it says full Speed up and down. So its not really Full speed then its limited speed. how adsl was.

When ISPs say "full speed" it always means the maximum speed that the network provider allows, i.e. the ISP is not limiting the speed in any way. The same situation exists with the download speed and with UFB.

If you look at the DSL information tab for the Frtiz!Box you can see that the limiting factor is the "Max. DSLAM throughput" - (DSLAM being the Chorus equipment in the cabinet/exchange that handles the DSL connection). The 50Mbps download limit is a different issue but is also an artificial limit imposed by Chorus: they have chosen to limit VDSL connections to the 8b profile when 17a profile is capable of higher download speeds.

I haven't seen any reasoning as to why upload is limited to 10Mbps. Even given the asymmetric spectrum allocation Chorus has chosen the upload speed could probably be double what it is. Notice how on the spectrum tab the green section (upload) is only half the height of the blue sections (download).

ADSL doesn't have any artificial speed limitations in place.

VDSL2 as sold by Chorus is limited to 10Mbps upstream and has always been like this.

Well, I moved house over the weekend; to literally next door. I wired the router in straight off the demark via a 2m cat 5e cable and I'm now getting the following stats after nearly 24hrs:

So it's looking pretty sweet so far! I've always suspected that there was something up with the line at my old place as I was getting significantly more errors than others with similar line stats than me. At the new property, the line attenuation is around the same as my old place (maybe slightly less) but I'm getting a higher sync by 6-8mbits and, so far, far fewer errors. We'll see how things go.

Got a DLM change this morning and my downstream sync speed is even higher!

CRC errors are still low, and I believe even these were caused by some kind of one off event causing multiple errors at 12-1pm today:
