For about the last month, ive been getting disconnected every 5 - 15 mins on average....

My DSL-G604T "ADSL Line drops" - IE. The light goes off.. blinks then reconnects..

Due to this I have not been able to do ANY gaming, web browsing is a pain.. SPEEDS ARE PATHETIC, and now that the school holidays are here... not having a working internet connection is going to be a major problem.. ive called Xtra at least 5 times, and every time they say "we will send this to Lvl 2 of the help-desk".. and i wait, and never get a call back..

Is anyone else having this problem? (I had to have a splitter installed due to the monitored alarm)

I've done almost everything that sites/Xtra has suggested, and nothing has worked... I am being disconnected atleast 75 - 120 times per day and its gettin extremely frustrating because i cannot do ANYTHING on the internet anymore.. besides the basic web browsing..

Any solutions? anyone having the same problem?

Did you just recently have the monitored alarm / splitter installed?

you could try temporarily disabling the dialer on the alarm, on mine it was just a simple code to punch in,
so you can rule the alarm out

have u removed everything from the jackpoints and just have the adsl plugged in with no filters to test ?

I would then swap the adsl router and make sure the same thing happens then go back to Xtra, of course
i know not everyone has spare dsl routers sitting around like me, but still you need to rule things out as the
cause.

If you do all of the above and it still happens, just get them to send a tech out, if you can prove all of the above
it will be harder for them to charge you the 80$

AjroolzNZ2k: How can u plug in the ADSL line without a filter?

It will work fine so long as there are no POTS devices connected anywhere in the house.

Yes, a splitter is definitely the way to go in that case.  In fact, it's the best option for any installation, but more of a hassle to install if you don't have any wiring skills.

Just as an aside to this thread the amount of users complaining about multiple disconnects went through the roof the very day telecom notified ISP's that they were removing the copper rate limiting. Personally myself i had a crappy old dlink504 router which overnight started disconnecting in very much the same fashion as reported here. I was however able to get the rate limit reapplied to my line and the issue immediately resolved itself. I have since changed router to a Linksys54gp2 mainly for voip services. Upon installing it i decided to take a punt and remove the rate limit again and it was perfectly stable.
Clearly judging by the amount of calls we were getting about this issue it was linked to the copper rate removal. The interesting thing was it appeared to mainly manifest itself on people with Dlink modems or netgear dg834's. However after recently talking with a number of customers who had this issue it seems to have "magically" resolved itself which indicates telecom have found the cause and are remedying it.

Did you manage to resolve this issue?

While on Telstra rather than Telecom I've had a similar connection issue.   Because of other difficulties I'd only just bought the modem in question, so can't really say when I've had an issue from.   My best guess however is it's something to do with ADSL2, as that was turned on at around the same time as the unleashing.   I've managed to get a stable connection by using our previous (standard telecom bundled) modem, so I'd be hesitant to say it was a line or exchange issue, or an issue with your particular modem.

Looking at the connection log, the modem appears to be dropping dsl sync.

No i haven't been able to solve the issue yet.. it is gettin really frustrating, my whole holidays are ruined thanks to this...
Cant even browse anymore... Xtra dont seem to be bothered... the helpdesk just keeps running tests, etc... its no point, i think il have to live with it, my parents dont want me to spend more money buyin another router (although its my money -.-) so i guess im gona be stuck with this 5 minute disconnection problem for ages...
